This could just be a brilliant marketing strategy. They pay a random person to post this to get people to brick their new phones so they have to go buy more of them! Bonus money.

Once again, Apple copies a Samsung feature and the fanboys eat it up like it was a big deal.

The sad thing is 99% of the phone would be waterproof if they coated it with a conformal coating.  I wonder what would happen if more fortune 500s started adding the words "water proof" in their quotes for thousands of phones.

Problem with reading comprehension, or just to busy jerking that knee? Apple didn't claim that IOS7 made their phones waterproof. Some trolls on 4Chan did.

The difference being that Samsung is trolling it's own customers with the Galaxy S4 Active, not just some b-tards.

They advertise it taking pictures underwater, but their warranty doesn't cover water damage and the devices hardly qualify as water resistant, much less water proof.

I accidentally put my iPhone 4S through the washing machine a few months ago, it was immersed for about 30 minutes with detergent and shaken around a bunch.

That would be awesome. Getting people to stand on their iPads would be even better than getting people to dunk their iPhones in the sink

Electronics are actually pretty robust.  As long as you dry them out thoroughly, things tend to work afterward.

The screens though?  That one's a bit iffy...

The fun part for the employees of said company is trying to explain that "no, that is not a real ad, and no, you will not get your phone covered under its warranty for that, but thanks for asking".

Not that I would know or anything.

Considering how apple products are the new AOL, or the new "apple products of the late 80's," I can see how some people fell for that.  If somebody old, and technology illiterate wants a smartphone I tell them to get an i-phone. Those people would maybe believe something like this.  I doubt it was younger hipsters.

I know you're in it for the lols, but people really do think that the giant computer company controls everything.  Including products made by other companies.

200 bucks for a new iPhone 5, or Samsung G4 under contract.

They would have been broke no matter what new smartphone they picked up.

Put sound on it so that it makes a groan when a heavy person steps on it, the heavier the person, the louder the groaning until it screams in pain.

Yeah, but they didn't fall for Samsung's marketing, they fell for Apple's. If iPhone didn't exist maybe they would have saved the money. shiat, maybe they could pay off their loans. Nah, that's farking crazy.

/G4 looks like a decent carputer.

I'm curious about the Moto X. Not so much for the cutesy customization schtick as the power save mode that shows you updates without powering up the whole screen. Also, supposedly they've got the camera and screen color stuff worked out with an early update. Plus, it's basically pure Google, right? Like the old Nexus line? So there hopefully won't be a bunch of uninstallable facebook apps and bullshiat yellow pages apps cluttering up my launcher.
