I'm perfectly happy with Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton sniping at each other for the next few years because neither of them will ever run for elected office again.

The fact that Sarah doesn't realize that everything she says against Hillary is a positive for Hillary shows the bubble the Fox commentators have fallen into.

What they're afraid of is losing, again. Because they might never win again with their current platform.

So their goal is to objectify and shout down anyone who is a legitimate, well-known candidate that they would have no chance of beating no matter who they run.

They won't be able to keep their Supreme Court Justices alive forever. As they get into their 90s, their health will deteriorate to the point where the public pressure to step down will be unstoppable. Then the Liberals will control the Supreme Court and be able to control gun regulation and healthcare, two things social conservatives are deathly afraid of.

Oh, look, Clinton Derangement Syndrome. This is what, going on over 20 years, so I'm sure that THIS time it will work to nail that ne'er-do-well...

In all honesty, I don't think that Clinton should be in the President's chair. Near it, certainly. Because so long as she's anywhere near the limelight, then folks will focus on her, as opposed to anything else substantive. This unreasoning hatred goes back a while, and it hinges on a First Lady who called Congressmen to sit down and talk about health care, when they should have been discussing how to get percentages of contracts that they were going to help set up in the Middle East. It rankled folks, and they've not forgotten it, and years down the road, they still have a mad on for her. Because they were inconvenienced. And for that she has to pay. And getting a sock puppet like Palin to mouth platitudes and talking points, and done with ill timing and barely cohesive narrative, that is about par for the course. Everyone, except the Hillary Is 44 folks are going to be tearing her up, just for breathing, let alone for doing a job, or anything remotely like policy or diplomacy of any sort. They WANT her to run, so that they can knock her down. Saint Sarah is perhaps going a bit early for the punch, because that's the problem--it's a knee jerk reaction. It has no finesse, no stratagem. The problem last time around, was they didn't wait for Hillary to clinch the ticket, before laying into her. There is nearly a whole generation of saved up dirt, plans, and ads banked up to draw upon, that were NEVER able to be used, and folks are SO excited to finally dip into them, that they can't wait for the right moment to use them. She has to get the ticket, secure it, before you rip her apart. Years of investing in wanting to take her down, and so sure that she was the presumptive candidate, that folks blew their wad early, and had very little to spend upon Obama, and it showed in the campaign, and oddly enough that diversion cost them a lot of time and effort. Saint Sarah is showing that folks haven't learned to wait for the candidate to actually get into the trap before pulling the lever.

The truth about Benghazi is that it is being used as a callous political vehicle.  The nutjob right thinks this is their one and only chance to harm the political careers of their opponents, truth notwithstanding.  The controversy is a complete fabrication, based on misconceptions and outright lies.  The rest of the world has long since moved on.

Well there you have it.  Republicans want the truth to come out about Benghazi because they think the truth will harm Hillary's presidential aspirations.  Democrats, on the other hand, want to conceal and obfuscate the truth about Benghazi because they think the truth will harm Hillary's presidential aspirations.  I think most voters will prefer to hear the truth.

Maybe she is - maybe she isn't. Still, Palin walked off the job of governor in her first term and racked up a few financial scandals while serving as mayor. I'd say she's hardly the one to lay criticism of Ms. Clinton.

I don't think Clinton will make the run, anyway.

No, fool, you're supposed to pay attention.  During both presidential election cycles that Obama participated in as a candidate for POTUS, this claim that not voting for him was racist was made over and over again.  If you don't already know this, you weren't paying attention or were locked in a basement.  Asking me for citations for a commonly known fact is like asking me for a citation for saying "The sky is blue."  Doing so is arguing in bad faith, and it is a waste of my time to prove to you something that is common knowledge.

Let me put it in another way:  Do you honestly think it won't be claimed that Hillary lost votes due to the fact that she is a female? Do you think valid criticisms of her won't be brushed off as misogyny by the left's chattering class and various and sundry feminist torchbearers?

Biden has a list of qualifications a mile long, but he's probably too old now.

As an aside, I've joked with my friends that the Democrats run Biden/Obama in 2016. If Biden lives thru his whole term, cool, run again in 2020. If not, Obama is president again and we can REALLY troll the Tea Party.

Okay, so the citation you are giving is "because I said so" or "its common sense".

The idea that Hillary lost to Obama because she's female is silly, just as the idea that Martha Coakley lost to Scott Brown because she's female is silly.  I haven't seen that a female Democrat was criticized because she's a woman nearly as often as I've heard conservatives like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Sean Hannity say "Why are liberals afraid of a strong, conservative woman?"

But, if Hillary becomes POTUS, count the number of times that a Fox News commentator begins a story about her with "Well, it must be that time of the month again".

Seriously though, if it's "common sense" then there's guaranteed to be an article you can link to where that's happening.  Otherwise, it's "I keep hearing that that's how those people think".

mcnguyen: Is this the same Sarah Palin who gushed over and effusively praised Hillary in her very first speech?  after after McCain nominated her as his VP?  That Sarah Palin?  I refuse to believe her constant praising and name-dropping of Hillary was a result of some sort of mad belief on the part of republicans that women-folk were so dumb that they'd vote for any woman, regardless of political beliefs.

Here are a couple of Palin's references to Hillary Clinton:

"I can't begin this great effort without honoring the achievements of Geraldine Ferraro, back in 1984, and, of course, Senator Hillary Clinton who did show determination and grace in her presidential campaign,'' Ms. Palin said.

[Hillary Clinton] does herself a disservice to even mention it, really. ... When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism, or maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, 'Man, that doesn't do us any good, women in politics, or women in general, trying to progress this country.'

Bolded to show that Sarah Palin has not been self-aware for some time.

Didn't click on TFA, but I think it was CNN, no? But either way, it points out the fatal flaw of 24-hour news networks; you need to report stupid things that will keep eyeballs on the TV until the next ad for Depends or Miracle Catheters. There are actual important events going on in the world right now, but - and all joking aside here - I reasonably expect to learn more about them by spending 15 minutes on fark, than I would vegetating for an hour in front of any TV news broadcast.

If TiVo could put an "ignore" button that actually made stupid people not appear on my TV, it would be worth a kidney.

The issues you mentioned were brought to light within what a month? If you take the scandals of John Edwards and General Petraeus, the minerals and management office, or the SEC oversight problems that led to Maddoff, I think we can say that not much stays secret when things get high profile scrutiny. Conspiracies can exist in the dark, but not in the light. Humans sort of suck at keeping secrets, and the more people involved the less likely it can stay secret. I'm sure you've heard the old saying "The only way 2 men can keep a secret is if one of them is dead." Either you believe that Rep. Issa has the capacity to find the coverup if it exists, and history shows us that he would have found more by now if it were there to be found, or you believe that government oversight fundamentally doesn't work. If it's the former, further investigation won't yield anything meaningful; if it's the later, why do you care, you don't believe that anything can be fixed without a revolution anyway.

Quit trying to defend a dumb strawman with pretentious bullshiat.

rufus-t-firefly: You know, I've been away from Fark for a while - popping in on occasion - because I got really tired of the trolls.

So I come back and not only do I see a post from SkinnyHead, I see a 2-month-old account agreeing with him.

See you guys later.

"Post turtle" doesn't explain the sea turtles though.  sprawl has posted sea turtles in Palin threads for a very long time, and I seem to recall him explaining it as something like, posting sea turtles in a Palin thread makes more sense than anything Palin actually says.

metatronarchetype: The Lone Gunman: So I'm supposed to research your statements?

Interesting.  Basically, that means that you can say whatever idiot thing you want, and if I disagree, you can reply with "If you don't know, then it's not worth my time to explain it."

No, fool, you're supposed to pay attention.  During both presidential election cycles that Obama participated in as a candidate for POTUS, this claim that not voting for him was racist was made over and over again.

Actually, a lot of the claims of why you shouldn't vote for Obama (aside from "He's Socialist, Kenyan ursurper") was that he was Unqualified for the job1. The claims of "you call us racist because we don't like the blah guy" only came from conservatives desperately grasping for a reason to justify their persecution complex.

If you don't already know this, you weren't paying attention or were locked in a basement.

"If you don't agree with me, you're obviously a hermit, or incurably stupid, or both. Study it out!"

Asking me for citations for a commonly known fact is like asking me for a citation for saying "The sky is blue."  Doing so is arguing in bad faith, and it is a waste of my time to prove to you something that is common knowledge.

"Not only have you demonstrated how mind-numbingly stupid you are, but you have the temerity to demand I back up my claims with facts? No wonder you people can't find your way out of a paper bag. Frankly, I don't know why I even try to straighten you Neanderthals out!"

Let me put it in another way:  Do you honestly think it won't be claimed that Hillary lost votes due to the fact that she is a female? Do you think valid criticisms of her won't be brushed off as misogyny by the left's chattering class and various and sundry feminist torchbearers?

"Why won't you see that our valid complaints about this candidate are dismissed as the fevered rantings of a party that spent 8 years creating scandals, rumors, innuendo, straight-up falsehoods and thousands of hours of government lawyers sent to Arkansas to dig up dirt on this woman and her husband? That was the *past* pal - any criticisms we have today are completely above board and untainted by the bullshiat of the 90's! How dare you insult our character?"

\proceed sir

1I truly enjoy that Sarah F*cking Palin was one of them. Do I need to explain why?

justtray: Ed Grubermann: FTFA: "If (Benghazi) doesn't have an impact on the 2016 presidential election, if she is a candidate, then America, I am very disappointed in our electorate," Palin said Sunday on Fox News, where she's a contributor.

As the Republicans show their true reasons for Benghazigate. Like we didn't already know they were going o do this. Christ on a cracker, hey must be terrified of Hillary.

Then why don't they run some candidates that are not either insane, brain dead, or religious lunatics? You know, candidates that people might actually want to vote for?  Oh, yeah. They let the insane, brain dead, religious lunatics take over the party.

Hey maybe Sarah and Hillary can compare the one job they have both done, mother.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she would be "disappointed" in the American electorate if Hillary Clinton becomes a serious candidate for president in 2016.

That's OK, I was disappointed in John McCain when you became a serious candidate for Vice President. That makes us even.

Asked how she plans to combat any conflicts she may face related to her political legacy, she said the best course is to "find common ground."
"I have a lot of reason to believe, as we saw in the 2012 election, most Americans don't agree with the extremists on any side of an issue," Clinton said in the interview. "But there needs to continue to be an effort to find common ground, or even take it to higher ground on behalf of the future."

I don't really care if Hillary runs or not, and depending on who the GOP finds to run, I can't say who I'll vote for, but compare that to ANYTHING Palin has EVER said, and it's obvious which person would make a better leader for this country.

/I seriously doubt the GOP is gonna get the derp out in time for 2016, but I don't make these decisions without the cards on the table, so I really mean that I don't know which Party I'll be casting my vote for.

spongeboob: Masso: At this moment, I don't know a single woman that is more qualified as POTUS.

Former Senator and former Secretary of State, If she's not qualified, there's no other woman on this god green earth that is qualified.

Woman? I can't think of a single person right now more qualified than her and I am not a Clinton fan by a long shot.

Totally agree. She is so qualified for the gig she's almost over qualified but that probably won't stop RW pundits from trying to make that argument against her.

Hell, I was hearing the "qualified" argument against Obama during the last election from people who thought Romney's time at Bain gave him more "Executive experience" and thus he was more qualified for the office than the guy who'd been doing it for close to 4 years by that point. Intellectual honesty is not the right's strong suit.

Again, I don't think she's gonna run but if she does she's the clear front runner coming out the gate.

That all noted, watching Scary Failin' cry impotent tears of rage that the fake scandal that FOX and their RW radio friends tried to create over Benghazi in order to bring Hillary's profile down has collapsed on itself like a bad souffle *was* kinda lulzy.

/Actually just came to make the "pants-suited" joke but I see that's been covered. Well done.

Dr Dreidel: SkinnyHead: If for no other reason, the truth makes a difference in deciding whether Hillary would make an honest president or not.

Because Obama, both Bushes, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Truman, FDR...and Washington were such AWESOME and COMPLETE truth-tellers.

Actually Carter may well have been. He wasn't really cut out for politics.

I could go on, and on, but why bother?  You cannot have missed this if you were paying attention.  I'm reasonably sure you were paying attention, and are feigning ignorance of this issue because you are arguing in bad faith.

This is why conservatives have been getting crushed lately.  Because they act like they're master profilers and they're shocked when they learn how wrong they are.

Sort of.  The "learning" part and the "admitting that they're wrong" part continues to escape them.

But please, keep telling me how I think.  You thinking that you're smarter than "people like me" will keep you warm and safe, and will blunt the trauma that will occur when Democrats wreck the GOP in 2014 and 2016.

Try to name one other person who could legally run who is even half as qualified.

I'll wait.

Aristocles: SkinnyHead: Ed Grubermann: FTFA: "If (Benghazi) doesn't have an impact on the 2016 presidential election, if she is a candidate, then America, I am very disappointed in our electorate," Palin said Sunday on Fox News, where she's a contributor.

This.

But who is BOB?
