the_end_is_rear: And the dumbing down of the marathon continues.

Oprah started it.
Then it became a bucket list thing for people.
Not to mention the 26.2 stickers......

They should never have allowed women to run marathons.

What truly outraged me was when they permitted the poor to participate.  Sports are a gentleman's pastime, and if a workingman can set-aside the time to train and run in a foot race, he surely is being a slackard at his employment.  Allowing hussies with soda washed hair to race is surely a recipe for moral turpitude, as well as a grave risk to their health, as athletic exhaustion will often cause uterine dislodgement.

There are people who run one marathon, put the sticker on their car, call themselves marathoners and never run again.
Then they go back to their sedentary lifestyle having checked the marathon item off their list of things to do.
No lifestyle change.

I have run half marathons in 1:07 back in the day, but have never done the full because I know the time and training it takes to actually "run" one.
Not just finish. Fark that. Plus that distance would probably beat me to shiate.

I am failing to see why would be upset with people who "finish" a marathon.
