It's still a victimless crime.

He's gotta tell you if he's a cop.

How weird would it be to root for the disgraced cop's union rep?  This story pulls me in too many different directions.

FTA"Selling marijuana out of his police car while wearing a badge and uniform is outrageous.
So outrageous it just might work.
a phrase the agent "understood to mean selling 10 to 15 pounds a week
Sounds like it was working just fine, he just got greedy.
/greedy as a piiiiiig!

Due to cop math, I bet his prices were outrageous.

They're high, subby. They probably thought they were hallucinating the cop car.

A Vancouver BC cop was doing the same a few years back.
Rob drug dealers(confiscate and no arrest, no ticket or paper trail). then resell. He got so proud that he started to deal while in uniform.

I'll bet it was good weed, too!

It's called entrapment, dude. If he so much as tries to arrest you, the best lawyers in the freaking world will bust him up bad! They'll sue him, the city, the state and even the gotdanged country. We'll be so rich! Party every day, man. So go on over there and tell him you want some. I'll record the whole thing on my Tracfone. If anything happens, I'll take the phone home and have my kid brother put it on YouTube. That way, we'll have plenty of evidence if he tries to arrest you.

Also, one should be Timothy Leary of a cop selling LSD out of a marshmallow rocketship.

FTFA:  "Selling marijuana out of his police car while wearing a badge and uniform is outrageous. This case is a reminder that no one is above the law."

But if he were to kill a few people and dogs, that's cool right?

One of the good ones ?

"This defendant used his position as a police officer to openly violate the very laws that he was sworn to uphold," U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in a written statement.

So... he's pretty much like most cops?

Why would you continue to be a cop if you are selling 10-15 lbs a week?

JohnnyRebel88: Why would you continue to be a cop if you are selling 10-15 lbs a week?

People think there is a lot of $$ to be made in selling weed. There really isn't that much profit. The margins are pretty tight unless you are the grower and even then its tough

If he was moving 10 - 15 pounds a week he might have been pulling in a few grand profit. Not chump change but you can't retire on that. People who move weight like that aren't selling 1/4 and 1/2s etc. Although he sold the informant an oz. which was probably as small as he wanted to deal with or did someone a favor.

If you are selling pounds of weed in small increments it means A LOT of foot traffic and is typically when your neighbors start to take notice as lots of people are coming and going. For folks moving weight it might just mean the same 3 or 4 people stopping by from time to time.

You can't really step on weed to make more weed like you can with other substances and it is rather bulky when transporting which gives rise to getting pinched. It really isnt the best drug to deal if your only reason is profits. Add to that most dealers have a head stash and your profits go up in smoke.

also, and this matters for all crimes for profit, you need to have some sort of explanation for your income.

while someone could recognize if this guy is spending beyond his means as a cop, it would take an investigation.  whereas, if he were jobless, it would be an immediate red flag.  being a cop would probably be easier. you could say you were doing security and getting paid in cash, etc.   though, that would not fly with the IRS, because they'd expect some paper trial.

with the contingency of law enforcement that was all butthurt and whinny about the Fed saying they're going to be more hands off in Washington and Colorado and the inevitable decline in funding for their unnecessary skills this guy just seems like an innovator, out in front of his peers and ready to transition to his new career.

I remember getting into a little trouble in rural Georgia growing up. Part of my Community Service was to wash and detail the police cars. By the end of a Saturday afternoon, I had a whole baggie full of roaches procurred from police-car ashtrays.

Fano: He's gotta tell you if he's a cop.

If you ask a cop if he's a cop, he's like... obligated to tell you.

It's in the constitution

Sell some pot? Throw the book at him. Taze, beat up, and illegally search some minority person on the street? Give him a commendation

If he has a badge on and makes a direct solicitation you bet I'm buying. That way all the cards are on the table and he can't spring the surprise arrest. He has more to lose selling drugs in uniform than I do buying them.

Yes I'm high, why?

He really is stupid. I'm the type of criminal who would NEVER snitch on my friends/associates. I did the crime and i got caught so I'll do the time. I don't need to bring someone else with me. But I'd go out of my way to tell on this guy and never blink an eye. And, I'd bet, anyone else I've met in jail would do the same. What a farking moron. I'm glad he's not going to be a cop anymore.

Ok just read the article. Holy shiat they have a hard on for weed. They are really going to try and fark this cop with a weapon enhancement. Ahahahahahahahahaha, delicious.

Sure it sucks because pot is pot but damn, they don't do this kind of crap when they murder people in the street.

I'm wondering if this is the way to get cops removed. Force drug charges because excessive force doesn't do it.
