Seen it happen.

It was a breakup, not random, but I have seen a cat literally thrown into the face of a receptionist.

/We had an office cat for a day.

Hrmm. Buried in that article it seems they are going to make the surrender process for that shelter more difficult, and turn down more animals. I can't help but feel that is going to make impatient irritable guys like this fella kill their unwanted pets to avoid the hassle. Paperwork with interviews versus garbage bag in the river.

/it is the stakeholders prerogative, but upping adoption rates by only accepting certain animals seems harsh.

Once you pried it off the receptionist, you mean.

Nah, it ran off.  Imagine scooby doo running, but with more claw marks on a face and neck before actually making tracks.

Anyone that would do that to a cat or dog because they would be inconvenienced otherwise should be put in that bag and thrown in the river.

I'm on mobile right now, but if anyone would care to post a side by side comparison of this perp and the police sketch of the zodiac killer, that might be interesting.

This just in:  Animals have feelings too.  That means some of them are assholes, but if animals don't like you for some reason, being the sort of person who'd throw a cat might have something to do with it.

There are also exceptions in the animal cruelty statute which are a little mind boggling: "Exceptions are made for research, protection of life or property, training, or shooting a dog or cat for urinating or defecating on property."

So it's okay to shoot a dog or cat for doing what comes naturally on your lawn?  That's farked up.  I'd be more inclined to shoot the owner.

According to the comments on the local paper's site the guy has Alzheimer's which could explain his behavior.  Of course that brings up the question of at what point would the disease have progressed to the point that he is too unstable to be driving.

So they want to make it harder for people to surrender pets? I see that ending well.

And by "well" I mean, a lot of unprepared housecats and dogs being let loose on the streets.

Why take a cat you don't want to the shelter when you can use the cat to beat the dust out of your rug.

Who throws a cat? Honestly! You fight like a woman!

Makes me glad/proud of the animal rescue organizations in my county. Run mostly by women whose kids are out of the nest. The spay neuter rate on outbound animals is 100%, feral cat colonies get managed, programs offer free spay/neuter for pets of low-income families, and the euthanasia rate is dropping through the floor.

However, they will try to work with distraught pet owners on how to come to some accord with their pets in order to ensure their continued residency in their owners' home. The shelter I worked at regularly gave coupons for free dog training classes to discombobulated owners.

But do they pay for the recombobulation?  That's the important question here.

Throwing cats at other cats is still okay though, right?  That's just good clean fun, after all...

No, dumbass. They only pay for the inital combobulation. They do not pay for subsequent recombobulations. That's what AFLAC is for.

AFLAC's combobulation coverage is a well-known rip-off, you asshat.  They only pay out like $100 every week you're in combobulation therapy.
