With all the beautiful rage being spewed by New York sports writers right now, why are we going with the story that talks about the Fantasy Football implications?

2013-09-23 09:08:06 AM
Sadly, this means the Cowboys are in first place in the division.

^ This.  I always have a slight bout of sadness whenever the Cowboys win.  But it passes.  Like gas.

Haha, after week one the nyg homer in my league traded sproles for Eli. Sat staffy yesterday for Eli yesterday and quickly went from best week one team to worst team.

2013-09-23 09:48:16 AM
In last week's Giants thread, I asked if the NY press was calling for Coughlin's head yet.

After yesterday, I'm just going to assume that they are.

His team that is.

/finally got good romo to show up

Maybe we can get the gints and stillers to play this year?  The combined suckage in such a small space would tear the planet apart.

Yeah, well we lost to the Browns.

So I'm not impressed.

three blind squirrels three weeks in a row?

The bar I go to watch the Pats is a big place for transplants - always a big contingent of transplanted Packers, Steelers, Pats, etc. fans.  The biggest group is the Giants fans.  We had to make sure that there was no extra rope lying around the place; there was talk of "how to make a good noose."

I got slammed by a few people with my 4-12 prediction for the G-Men, with an 0-4 start.

I like my prediction a whole lot now.

The thing is, no one will be shocked if the Giants suddenly turn into a team, go 8-8, and squeak into the playoffs.

Then they'll someone stumble their way into the Superbowl and complete the "Trolling Tom Brady" trifecta.

Remember when everyone thought the biggest beatdown this weekend would be JAX@SEA?

// Putridge Farm remembers

As painful as it is to be a Redskins fan right now, I take solace from the fact that at least they're not the Giants.

week 4's London game of Steelers and Vikings will produce enough suckage to straighten all the teeth in the UK

2013-09-23 10:30:20 AM
I'm torn. On one hand, the Cowboys lead the NFC East. On the other hand, they helped out the Seahawks by beating the Rams. Perhaps we'll see the Cowboys in Seattle for the playoffs. That'll be good.

2013-09-23 10:36:52 AM
The Panthers don't look that bad.

Competitive game against Seattle.  Competitive game at the Bills (not all that impressive, but whatever.)  Beat up the Giants.

So a good showing, a meh showing, and a great showing.  Alright team through three games.

2013-09-23 10:38:26 AM
I've been saying all along that the Panthers are a sneaky-good team.  Everybody knows their front 7 is one of the best in football, and now that their secondary seems to be making strides as well, this could be a top-five defense.  So, on that note...

thecpt: Haha, after week one the nyg homer in my league traded sproles for Eli. Sat staffy yesterday for Eli yesterday and quickly went from best week one team to worst team.

Wow.  Exhibit A of homerism infecting fantasy decisions.  Stafford going off for 300+ yards and multiple TDs was just about the easiest thing to predict all day.  Manning faced a tough matchup.  I guess, if I can give the guy the benefit of a doubt, there was a chance that Victor Cruz could go off against soft spots in the secondary and turn a mediocre day for Manning into a good day with one or two of his signature plays.  Still, no doubt Stafford was the better play.

dat super bowl loser curse, the only question now is whether they become the first loser team to miss the playoffs the following season since the '08 Pats, everything about the 49ers seems unsettled and regressed, it's really surprising...

dat super bowl host curse, it's been 13 years since a team that hosted the super bowl even made the playoffs (and that was a wild card)

4-12 is definitely feasible

I live in Baltimore and the wife is a big Ravens fan, so I only got the crawl across the bottom during the Ravens' game. I had to excuse myself to the backyard a couple of times yesterday afternoon.

/Also all the WR/RBs on my FFB team have been injured in the last two weeks, except Victor Cruz.

The Bill's game was directly related to bad coaching.

Carolina just killed 5:30+ on the clock with 4th and 1 on the 21.  Buffalo has no timeouts.  Go for 1 yard to win the game or kick a safe field goal and give the other team 1:38.  hmmm, I would have went for it.

Then the dreaded prevent defense took over and Buffalo took advantage.

Yesterday was a great win, but the Giants look terrible.  Jacksonville terrible.

I'm getting to the point...wait, forget that.  I'm past the point of listening to a bunch of unqualified whores talk about sports in NYC.

As for my Giants: Ehhhh fark this looks like a 6-10 season and Coughlin retiring.  Did Reese all of a sudden forget about strengthening the OL?!

Two pretty terrible teams proving that if you ignore the offensive line for years, eventually you will suffer some pretty severe consequences.

I didn't really like the play-calling yesterday by the Giants, they kept running "drop back and get immediately sacked by 4 defenders" for some reason.  Might want to try a new approach next week.

What do you mean "all of the sudden"?  He's been ignoring the OL for years.  Aside from Beatty and Pugh, they haven't picked a lineman before the 4th round since Reese became GM.  I guess he thought Chris Snee would be a stud forever and he could just clone the prime versions of Dave Diehl and Rich Seubert.

David Baas has been wretched from the moment he arrived.

You know how at the start of sports movies, the team that looks like it has no chance in hell of winning anything just starts doing crazy shiat? And somehow, this crazy shiat works and the team wins?  That's what the first half of that game looked like.  It's not often yo see a fake punt and a fake FG in the same half.

I heard his brother died last week. I hope he's getting a pass this week.

And I didn't get to see the game, so I don't know who or what is to blame for such a performance. Eli only threw one INT & he was sacked 7 times, so it seems to me like he didn't have much of a chance to do anything. Play calling? O-line breakdown? WR dropsies?

Yeah, we can be brothers in fantasy misery this week.  I also left D. Bowe in (he can't suck every week, right? And hey, the Eagle's secondary is crap!) when I could have flexed J. Bell against the Redskins instead.  Those two plays alone would have netted me another 40 points.

The Vikings need to take their entire coaching staff out back and beat them with inanimate carbon rods. That's what's wrong with them.

I haven't seen much "fire Coughlin" rhetoric so far, I think there is a lot of justified frustration that Coughlin and Kevin Gilbride are either unwilling or unable to adjust their scheme to match their personnel.  If you have a bad offensive line, you can't run an offense predicated on option routes that take a long time to develop.

Eli was sacked 6 times in the first half yesterday.  He dropped back to pass 16 times.

2013-09-23 11:31:59 AM
None of this matters as the Chargers are going to win the Super Bowl.  Don't believe me?  Look it up.  Over the past three years the team that's beaten the Eagles in their (the Eagles) home opener has gone on to win the Super Bowl.  Your arguments are invalid.
