Now that you guys realize that it's not going to happen, now, now you want to COMPROMISE? What would you guys give up that you could still obtain? NOTHING!! so Fark OFF!!!!

Actually, no. If the dems, libs, and Farklibs would simply listen to what the Teabaggers are saying, maybe there wouldn't be so many misconceptions.

The Grand Old Party is working diligently to save America. The biggest job killing piece of legislation since the days of FDR is Obamacare, so it's important to tackle that first. But, BOB and the dems have been stubborn and have only changed Obamacare in ways that benefit their cronies, i.e. BOB and the dems have not been looking out for the American people. As Obamacare is slowly forced down the American people's throats, Republicans are keeping an open mind about ways to prevent the bungled, anti-Freedom legislation from destroying our Great Nation.

Who the hell is BOB?

I was promised by fox news dot com that the sequester was actually going to be good for the country because...well, I don't think they gave a reason, I think they just pointed out that Obama didn't want it so it had to be good, but yeah. That's good enough for me and mine.

Obama didn't want the sequester?

It was his idea, of course he wanted it.

I'm told on Fark by FarkLibs at least five times a day that Barack "BOBby Fisher" Obama plays 4th dimension chess. He new the sequester was bad, and new Dim's wouldn't be n'sync with R's on a deal. It stands to reason that new kids on the block of the TeaPartyPatriots wouldn't extend the debt ceiling again, as America shouldn't, but Obama new they wouldn't.

When all that happens there is only one direction to go he will institute martial sharia law and appoint himself King as America burns under 98 degrees heat next summer. At that point theres no turning back. Street boys in the new black panthers will run our local governments.

TheMysticS: t3knomanser: This sequester thing reminds me of last week, when I went through customs at Dulles. The line for immigration was long, but immigration was pretty well staffed. By the time you got to the customs checkpoint, there were  two agents and  three planeloads of people trying to make a connection. Thanks, Obama.

Slaxl: When will "welp" die?

Welp, y'know, it's just a filler word. Like, um, "like", and uh... "hmmm", or "y'know"... er..., so, well, it's going to stick around, because it's a simple monosyllable that conveys no information but breaks up speech giving the speaker more time to think and giving the audience more time to process.

Strange thing is, as a Canadian I've visited the States more times than I can count and I have never had a bad experience with US customs and immigration. Granted, whenever I fly I pre-clear at the Toronto airport (US customs agents actually clear you at the airport before you board so you don't have to deal with immigration at your destination), and whenever I drive I cross at either Niagara Falls or Fort Erie, both of which are very busy and hence very efficient.

hubiestubert: This is what happens when you send faux-ideologues to Congress, as opposed to competent legislators.

I get it. Folks are upset that the Libbiest Libs Who Ever Libbed a Lib have seats, and a President who speaks softly and lets you hit yourselves with your own stick, but at some point, maybe folks might want to STOP giving them ammunition to dun you with. Especially when the plan you oppose so much, was the pretty much the plan that you put forward a few years ago, and your Presidential nominee actually signed into law already.

I am NOT a fan of the ACA. It is a giveaway to the insurance industry, though less of one that Romney put forward in Mass--and perhaps THAT is the real feature that folks who are leading this "fight" have: it doesn't just give huge amounts of government cash directly to the middlemen to dole out at their leisure and a huge opportunities to turn that cash into interest elsewhere. It is still an awfully big giveaway that we might better use by not shuffling it between bank to bank to bank, and maybe actually see it in circulation. That was the modification that got it to pass though, and it still offers a better course than: hope y'all don't get sick and die. There's still a lot to do: mental health care in the nation has been gutted, jobs are still sparse, and the current model for "growth" apparently is more of the same house of cards shuffling and an assisted market model that only benefits a few, as opposed to opening up markets for real competition. For folks who claim that they want to see a free market, they are digging their heels in damn hard to prevent real competition and actual entrepreneurs to enter said markets. Coupled with a damning "law and order" mentality that shackles local, state, and the Fed to wasting millions upon untold millions on keeping a dollars flowing to private prisons, attorneys, and a seizure plan that allows looting of the public coffers and skimming directly from human misery, and we have some issues still to deal with at home, and yet, folks seem bent on getting us involved in every conflict across the globe, and then cry and wail when someone suggests something that WON'T get a lot of folks killed, and wail when the President might actually take a firm line. Then again, it does go back to the idea that mental health care is in serious jeopardy in this nation, and sadly, more than a few of our legislators, despite being well covered at this point for such care, they won't avail themselves to it, and their families are loathe to get them committed to save not just themselves, but the nation that they imperil....

It's boy bands! Boy bands, right?

But I'm on my Obamaphone.

CSB time!

Last time I had to fly commercial in and out of the States was when my dad passed last May.  I kind of left in a hurry (understandably) and didn't empty out my wallet.  As I live in Southern Spain, I have Euro and Gibraltar Pound Sterling in my wallet, in addition to the American currency I use on base.  So I flew from Madrid into Chicago.  I got stopped in Chicago O'Hare on my way into Detroit because the back-scatter machine apparently decided that my wallet looked suspicious.

So, the guy asked to see it, which I was a little leery about, but figured if I wanted to make my flight I'd just have to do it.  He opened it up, and then looks at me with an upturned eyebrow.

TSA: "Why do you have three kinds of currency in here?"

Naturally, I'm not in the greatest mood (my dad was dying, after all) and told him where I lived, and why I used three kinds of money.

TSA: "I don't see why you need three kinds.  Europe uses the Euro."

Me: "Yes, but the British Isles, and it's territories like Gibraltar, use the Pound."

TSA: "....I have to talk to my supervisor."

So, he left and came back from behind a screen with a sour looking gentleman with a John Bolton mustache, which instantly made me hate him.  HE asked me why I had three kinds of currency.  I sarcastically told them "You caught me.  I'm actually Jason Borne.  I just really let myself go and got really fat.  Part of my disguise."

TSA Supervisor:  "Sir, joking about terrorism is grounds for arrest.  Don't do that."

Me: "But I wasn't jokin....  You know what, I'm sorry."

After explaining it to this guy, he finally let me pass just in time to make the run to my connection gate.

"Paul said Republicans still expect members to fight the law, which national polls show only about a third of Americans support. "

They keep repeating this but I really find it hard to believe. Obama ran on a platform of health care reform and was elected. Then he ran on a platform of implementing the ACA, and he was re-elected. What part of "elected to reform health care and re-elected to implement health care reform" do these people not understand? The national polls in question must be framing the question in terms of "If you knew that Obamacare would murder your grandmother, would you still support it?"

I am really mystified as to what the Republican leadership hoped to gain here. They knew they couldn't win on this. They've angered everyone outside their base by pulling this stunt. When they fail to defund Obamacare, their based will despise them for it. Few things anger people more than giving them false hope, and the Republicans have people believing this will actually work.

/REALLY dislike the TSA
//my sister is a flight attendant and dating a pilot, the stories they share about the TSA

I work for the FAA and everyone seems to think the TSA has anything to do with us. It makes me hate them even more.

// Abolish the TSA and don't replace it.

You pretty much assume correctly. I live out in the pucker brush these days and no one fixes the roads here.

Nope, sorry, you've agreed (by virtue of staying here) to live in a country where you pay some of the fruits of your labor to the government, who in turn provide you with police, military, infrastructure, water that won't kill you if you drink it, fairly well inspected meat, scientific advancements that wouldn't otherwise be researched because they are not *immediately* profitable, a legal system, a system that allows redress if you are wronged *other* than trying to outgun the other person, etc.

Don't like it? Then get the fark out, loser.

Person. Worst person.

Anyone who biatches about "real jobs" and paying salaries of federal employees is a tard, and doubly so while doing it on a home PC and US internet.

And, "pretty much" rugged individualism isn't rugged individualism. He is, however, "pretty much" retarded.

rosebud_the_sled: Is it just me or has everything conservatives have tried to do in the last 15 years ended in failure?  And managed to cost the public trillions.  Iraq?  Afghanistan?  Fighting Obamacare?  Trying to manage the US economy.

Is there anything they are capable of beyond pooping their pants?  I realize that they are all intentionally ignorant, but they must have gotten something right over the last two decades.

/getting morons to vote for you is not success, it just means that you are from a red state

They have not failed, it is just your criteria for success are not their criteria for success. See, you assume they are governing for everyone and that is not true. Their success is that they have looted the treasury, twice now, allowing their friends to acquire massive amounts of wealth. They have successfully slowed or stopped investigation into the financial sector, twice now, so that the financial sector can commit fraud, their friends can gain billions of dollars in wealth, and get the public to pay for the clean up.

They have successfully created this idea of class war, and pitted the middle class against the poor. While at the same time decimating the middle class. They have successfully used fear of change, fear of god, and fear of whatever to keep themselves in power.

So, by my measure they have been an unprecedented success, it is just that the middle class and poor have been hurt and sometimes destroyed by their success.

Bolded that statement because corporations think in a similar vein.  Corporations want workers to be no different than tissue paper, to be discarded after use.

You see, he provided goods or services to others in exchange for money. With this money he purchased a computer and made arrangements with both a communication and a power company. Thus enjoying the fruits of his labor. It's quite simple, really.
