Mambo Bananapatch: Lamadin: doglover: wildcardjack: Instead of getting a tattoo I grew an epic beard. The great thing about an epic beard is that not everyone can grow an epic beard and I can get rid of it in ten minutes.

Also, you can braid things into it like beer mugs.

I'd love to grow one. Work forbids it though. They don't, however, forbid tattoos. Hence, tattoos.

/White collar job (which conveniently hides most of said tattoos)

I'm glad for your sake they forbid sinking an ice pick into your own brain. At least I assume they do as you're still here posting.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that if his work did allow ice picks to the head, he still wouldn't do it because he doesn't want to.  It's entirely likely that his desire for tattoos is totally independent of whether they're allowed or not at his place of work, just like his desire for a beard is independent of the rules.

But then, this is a tattoo thread.  And we all know that logic is frowned upon in tattoo threads.

So this idiot hasn't been to a concert in a decade, and he picks Nickelback?
Also saw Gwen Stefani twice, and still hasn't figured out how to spell her name right.

/looks like they just copy-pasta'd from this site

I buy a t-shirt at each concert I go to (mostly metal, because fark you) just to show people where I've been. It's never occurred to me to tattoo the artist/date on myself. Or to get my ticket stub tattooed on my entire forearm (#5). These ideas open whole new avenues of possibility...

/#1 shoulda been #48. You don't want people clicking back off your page immediately.

I met "Weird" Al Yankovic after a concert one time and I jokingly said if he autographed my arm, I'd get it tattooed there. He did. So, I went ahead and had it tattooed. Figured I'd be the only one who could say that!

/and six months later I found out just how wrong I was...

They're free spirits. Non-conformists. They don't care what anyone thinks of them, man. Consequences on quality of life be damned!

Oh yes--"free spirits" and "non-conformists." Getting a stupid tattoo (or a tattoo at all, and the vast majority are stupid) seems to be conforming in and of itself. As a very wise man once said (and I'm paraphrasing because lazy), if you want to be a non-conformist, go stick your head in a book at the library like the Asian kids. They don't care what people think.

Ah yes, I forgot.  The only way to be non-conformist is to conform to the stereotype of bookworm.

Yup. It was done well, just really strange. If you run a hot dog shop or something, or you're like World Hot Dog Eating Champion, it's kinda cool.

BraveNewCheneyWorld: Paris1127: [i.chzbgr.com image 480x274]

It's important, however, to look at the verse in context. This passage in Leviticus, including the surrounding text, is specifically dealing with the pagan religious rituals of the people living around the Israelites. God's desire is to set his people apart from other cultures. The focus here is prohibiting worldly, heathen worship and witchcraft. God forbids his holy people to engage in idolatrous, pagan worship and sorcery which imitates the heathens. He does this out of protection, because he knows this will lead them away from the one true God.

Just an angle to consider.

It appears that this majestic God is a petty asshole from this angle as well.

I've considered getting tats before, but having done my fair share of autopsies and described more than my share of tats, I always thought that they just sound so ridiculous -- "humanoid with orb", "dragon with flames". Now when I see a heavily tatted person I think about what a pain it would be to measure and describe all of them on the person (which you have to do as part of a routine external examination at an autopsy).  Generally they appeared to be a summary of the poor choices made by the person that ended them up on a cold metal slab.

There was a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon (which I will also just describe...also lazy) where Calvin pointed out that the headbangers that listened to heavy loud music had grown up to become the establishment. So to rebel, he was going to listen to nothing but elevator music...very quietly.

/It's the same basic joke, people.

This tattoo is so bad it let the terrorists win.

Also, she's so blandly mediocre in appearance that if it weren't for sporting a big derpy tattoo in a beauty pageant, she'd just be the 2nd or 3rd hottest mom on the sidelines at any random kids' soccer game.

I have issues with the whole "bad tattoo" idea. There is the Badly Executed Tattoo catagory and the Tattoo That I Would Never Get catagory. I have a few of them. Only one is visible in my general every day clothing. I didn't get them to be cool or rebellious. All of them mean something to me. No Tweety Birds, celebrity names, or bible quotes. I can't see myself regretting the tattoo of my kid's kisses. I've thought all of mine out because they all represent something for me. I don't generally care if anyone understands them or likes them. My tattoos are for me and no one else. If people choose to judge me because they can see the small tattoo on my wrist then that is thier issue not mine.
