When it was Insight, I was getting 25Mb+.  Now I push 12Mb.  I hate Time-Warner.

Can't wait to move to Austin next year (not specifically for the fiber but that will be a nice side benefit).

lohphat: I'm at home. I can't use work stats because the test will list the company name since we have BGP4 peering on an assigned ASN.

San Francisco Comcast at $115/month -- internet only, no cable channels or voip. They just installed Uverse on my block but are offing half the speed at the same cost.

[www.speedtest.net image 300x135]

So $1 per Megabyte. I'm paying $2 per Mb. I have HD/DVR cable as well.

Google Fiber FTW

Those guys have been digging up the streets around my condo for a month now, and I still don't have my fiber. How long did it take for you to get connected after they started work on your fiberhood? I guess I should be happy they haven't blown up any building like those farkers at TWC blew up JJs, but still, I want my fiber.

It was almost 9 months from the time I signed up until I actually got connected. It takes time, but it is so worth it.

I figure based on what people in South Korea get we're still getting ripped off when paying $55 a month.

Stuck with 100Mb since the building won't get the SoNet 2GB service.  That would have been fun.

Oh well, at $20/month I can't complain.  Would be interesting to see what everyone is paying for their service.   Only a few have listed what their cost is.

OpenBand is fiber to the door.  Weird local ISP that wired a few neighborhoods in Northern VA in the mid-2000s.  Yup, fiber in 2005.  Problem is, they bundle it with phone, shiatty television, and make it part of the HOA fees.  Top it off with a 99 year Hong-Kong like exclusivity agreement and you're stuck with one HBO HD channel, no AMC HD, and a bunch of other crap for $200+ a month.  At least when I pay $32 to download a season of Breaking Bad, each episode downloads in a minute or two.
