FTA: "There's food being prepared down here and it's illegal," he said. "I think it's silly because that can be a health hazard."
To be fair, guns are also a potential health hazard. But they don't carry salmonella, so at least there's that.

There's still chickens left that aren't nothing but blood and feathers?

I don't think that this was a very eggselent idea from this egghead.

This law has now come home to roost.

He's just ready to tar and feather the people who made the law.

He's trolling for some hot chicks.

We should listen to a few nuggets of his wisdom.

But why did he cross the road?

/ok I'll stop now
//at least he didn't go off half cocked

Old MacDonald had a farm. E-I-E-I-O. And on his farm he had a Glock, E-I-E-I-O. With a blam-blam here, and a blam-blam there, here a blam, there a blam, everywhere a blam blam!

His farm must've been in the South Side of Chicago.

I've often considered the fanatical gun owners to be more concerned with their cocks than anything else, but this dude is taking that way too literally.

I love me some guns, specifically pistols, but one of my buddies was espousing 'a 12 gauge for home defense' and 'an AR in the bugout bag' as well as something along the lines of point it at someone/someone pointing one at them.

I'm just...stunned. They live in HOUSTON, not even a 'bad' part of town. And they have 2-3 kids under 5. The statistics for at-home break-ins vs. the statistics for 'child accidentally killed by/with gun' are...not pleasant.

Is it just me, that finds this mentallity frightening? I mean, what compells people to think they the US is honestly going to devolve into an actual 3rd world country, with martial law? Is it possible? I guess. Is it likely enough that you should be predicating life choices on keeping guns and ammo in the house in a manner SPECIFICALLY intended solely for the purpose of shooting another human being (i.e. not remotely hunting related)?

There are two rational reasons to carry a weapon with you in everyday life, open or not:

1) you're in a war

2) you're part of an underdeveloped society where the security gains outweigh the dangers of misuse and accidents

us.123rf.com

If those 2 options don't apply and you still insist in carrying, you have issues.

I feel safer with open carry laws. Only criminals, bullies, or the scared would want to hide their weapons.

If everyone open-carried a firearm, you would actually see crime disappear because the second you draw your weapon in a hostile manner, there are 20 people with guns on you to stop it. It is one hell of a deterrent.

Can you draw faster than grandma? Are you sure?

The only reason to take weapons away from the public is to control the public.

I'm not a doomsday preacher (well, other than the REAL doomsday!) but sometimes I think we overestimate how well-hinged society is.
A riot can throw a wrench in the works. Sometimes even a power outage and people go nuts. Maybe the whole US doesn't have to evolve into a 3rd world country, but can you imagine if one of the larger gangs said "to hell with it all, lets go pillage some rich neighborhoods!"?

For the record, I don't own a gun, but I understand the concern.

Are you an active member of the local community-based militia which is part of a regional coordinating committee which is integrated into the federated labor syndicate? No, because that system doesn't exist? Okay then shut the fark up and put your surrogate dick away. Unless there are tens of millions of you well-organized and you collectively control an overwhelming majority of the economic power, you will not win that fight. Preciously. These guns-as-penis-extension trolls think they're safe from government.

lohphat: Preciously. These guns-as-penis-extension trolls think they're safe from government.

And even more preciously, you think that all government are and always will be benevolent, humble servants of the people, and you trust them completely.

That's just adorable.

snocone: Resident Muslim: kroonermanblack: I've often considered the fanatical gun owners to be more concerned with their cocks than anything else, but this dude is taking that way too literally.

I'm not a doomsday preacher (well, other than the REAL doomsday!) but sometimes I think we overestimate how well-hinged society is.
A riot can throw a wrench in the works. Sometimes even a power outage and people go nuts. Maybe the whole US doesn't have to evolve into a 3rd world country, but can you imagine if one of the larger gangs said "to hell with it all, lets go pillage some rich neighborhoods!"?

For the record, I don't own a gun, but I understand the concern.

In 66 years, I have learned;
Doomsday if/when will not have already been covered by Hollywood.
All that is required for a complete FUBAR is 3 impossible minor things to occur simultaneously.
Be patient.

Ehhh. I've been through several major storms and evacuations, and loss of power for a month or so during one summer (only a few weeks the previous hurricane). Everything was semi ok. I can't think of a situation where you'd reallistically 'need' a gun; maybe a riot, but then again, shooting down rioters is likely to A) bring more, B) bring the cops, neither of which you probably want. In an evacuation you're likely to be actually, you know, evacuating, which typically means large masses of people moving in a direction, and it's not likely someone's going to be holding you at gunpoint in the highway stop-and-go. Or you've remained in the city, and you're hoping to get to shoot someone.

The majority of individuals who carry firearms in public -- concealed or not -- are extremely incomsiderate. By not engaging in acts of unjustified violence, they cause those who claim that not entirely prohibiting the carrying of firearms in public will increase rates of violence to appear to be irrational and dishonest.

I actually cannot agree to that.  To me exercising a Constitutional right just to prove a point is in and of itself a good thing.  I will say, however, that just because you can does not always mean that you should.  For example, it is 100% legal to don a KKK robe and hurl racial slurs while walking down the street of a predominately black neighborhood in New York City. Doing so, however, is probably not the brightest of ideas.  As someone once said, "Constitutionally right and dead is still dead."

lohphat: whackamac: The only reason to take weapons away from the public is to control the public.

Right. The Congo is a model of peace and stability vs the tortured in most of the developed world where gun ownership is heavily restricted.

I wonder what the per capita gun deaths are between The Congo, The US, and let's say...Denmark.

I'll wait.

In most towns in the old west, including some of the roughest, they would have been told to hand them over, or go to jail...

Was the "surface" reason for OK coral

Rashnu: Woulda been a better story if he was protesting concealed carry gun laws.  Shoulda at least strapped the chicken to his back.

I am surprised that fewer protests of the concealed weapons permit law in the state have occurred; less than six months after the first permit was issued, a man in an Aldi's supermarket was shot by a concealed weapons permit holder over a simple dispute.

While I don't think wandering around with AR-15's in a crowded public place is the brightest idea ever, if those farkers are scared just by seeing one slung over a shoulder on a strap, the scared is on them, not the gun holder. If they were waving them around like Yosemite Sam, okay, being scared is understandable, but otherwise, they're nothing more than pearl-clutching whiners going on about "da chuuuldruuun!!11!!!"

THing is, we do not live in a society where that is the norm.  Plus, the 24hr news cycle is bombarding the public from all sides that gun owners are nutters

"OMG, if guns were illegal this wouldn't have happened" Paranoid gun grabbers.

OMG!!!  We need MORE guns, in places like schools and bars to keep this from happening!!!!  Paranoid NRA

Chicken practicing open-carry.

My initial reaction to that picture was heavily influenced by the amount of Attack on Titan I watched this weekend. ...actually, yeah, it would be even more awesome if instead of giants with down's syndrome they were gigantic chickens.
