rugman11: James Cromwell wins for Supporting Actor in a Movie/Miniseries for American Horror Story, which was neither a movie nor a miniseries.

Yeah, I don't get how they managed to finagle a spot in that category.  Two years in a row, no less.

Because each season is a self-contained storyline, making it technically a mini-series.

rugman11: Laura Linney for The Big C: Movie - Best Actress in a Movie/Miniseries

Can someone explain how she can win in a category for movie/miniseries, when the show she's been in has been running since 2010, has four seasons, and 40 episodes?  It doesn't make sense to me.

The movie/miniseries category is a complete sham.  The year Downton Abbey won a bunch of miniseries awards for its first season, the second season was already airing in the UK.  Sherlock submitted one of its episodes as a TV movie last year to skirt the rules.  We're also seeing a bunch of shows meant to be continuous that get canceled after their first season submitting as miniseries (Ashley Judd got a nomination last year this way).  Idris Elba was nominated twice for the playing the same character on the same show in separate seasons.  And even American Horror Story is a bit of a joke.  How is it any different from The Twilight Zone or any other anthology series except that its story is told over a season instead of individual episodes?

At this point, though, nobody really seems to care.  They're just going to keep letting shows submit how they want to unless they get shamed into changing, like Downton Abbey.

"No, I call myself a Republican because I am one. I believe in market solutions and I believe in common sense realities and necessity to defend itself against a dangerous world. The problem is now I have to be homophobic. I have to count the number of times people go to church. I have to deny facts and think scientific research is a long con. I have to think poor people are getting a sweet ride. And I have to have such a stunning inferiority complex that I fear education and intellect in the 21st Century. Most of all, the biggest new requirement--the only requirement--is that I have to hate Democrats."

This is what lefties actually believe.

They did the last season as a 4 episode miniseries with the subtitle Hereafter, so it counts as a minisieres just like Farscape's Peacekeeper Wars wrap up.

OtherLittleGuy: Mad_Radhu: It's all a sham since Tatiana Maslany was not nominated for best actress, while Elizabeth Moss basically just showed up for work and got a nomination.

QFT.

Thirded. Maslany was ROBBED. She should have been nominated seven times.
