You know, I hate to say this but at this point Hideo Kojima just comes off to me like "that one guy" in internet flame wars that constantly says they're ignoring posters or leaving the argument, but never actually leaves the discussion. This is going to be, what, the fourth "LAST METAL GEAR SOLID GAME EVER, NO DON'T EVEN ASK"?

"...it would have been a travesty to have had it excluded. "

The real travesty here is that they wrote an entire article about some guy thinking about deleting an exclamation point.

This is a massive improvement from the social justice bender that the entire scandal rag racket has been on for the last year.

Kojima is trolling the fans at this point. Big time.

In his quest to make the game experience more realistic

Huh?  This coming from the series that...
1.  Tells you to look for a Codec frequency on the back of the game's CD case
2.  Tells you to plug in the controller into Port 2 for a boss fight
3.  Tells you it'll know if you're using turbo for button presses

For me, the fact that these 4th wall breaking things exist is what makes the game great.

The only good MGS game was the first one. Everything after that has been derivative, nonsensical crap. And Kojima is one of the most overrated game designers this side of Cliffy B..

This.

The only memorable highlight of MGS2 was naked somersaulting - no handed - past dozens of guards while the Colonel was going batshiat insane on your radio. Stopped playing the series after that, thinking it was getting too weird, too clownish, and too preachy in cutscenes.

Years later, I catch a Youtube clip of a MGS sequel that has a commando on your team actually shiatting his pants, with a clone or time-travelling (or whatever convoluted tripe Kojima wrote) Snake telling him to get downwind away from him as the guy farts, moans and has his pants turn brown in gunfight.

I played the original Metal Gear on a friend's Nintendo years ago and never saw the ending.  My next foray into the series was MGS 2, and I, like most people, was a little pissed that you only controlled Snake for the first 5% of the game.  I never really liked Raiden, and it was really preachy.  I loved Snake Eater.  The food mechanic was silly, but the story and the memorable bosses sold it.  I also liked Twin Snakes on the Gamecube.  I never got a PS3 or a Sony Handheld so that's the last I've played of the series.  I don't think I missed a whole lot from what I've heard.  Maybe someday if I pick up a PS3 I might try 4.

One thing I found, for me, is that the games don't hold up to repeated plays.  If you skip the radio calls and just focus on the action, it's really boring pretty quick.  Since you know all the story gotchas, the codecs get boring real fast too.

The only good Metal Gear games were the original MSX game, and "Metal Gear 2: Snake's Revenge" for NES.

Or you could watch the whole game in a 10 hr movie (mostly cutscenes, very few gameplay) --  http://youtu.be/TqayJfcb1PU

Peace Walker was pretty fun especially since the bosses were all giant metal gears.

I HATE the Metal Gear series now, because in my mind, all of the the time spent developing more Metal Gear shiat is time that could have been spent on a new Zone of the Enders.
