Aezetyr: Welcome to Cupcake Week TM . Well, as Ohio State calls it "Cupcake Season".

The best game this week is #5 playing #23.  I'm pretty sure it's not just Ohio State rolling up on cupcakes.  I suppose we could struggle against a team ranked somewhere in the 100's like Georgia.  I guess that's how the "big boys" do it.

Pretty much all the games are ranked teams vs. cupcakes this week (except the one you mentioned). If you look at OSU schedule, they do not have a significant real challenge until the B1G conference play starts. Truth is, they do not deserve to be ranked as high as they are, based on their strength of schedule.

Even Michigan has a cupcake later on this evening (U-Conn).  Hopefully they play a helluva lot better than they did vs. Akron (WTF?! that game was bees).

It's the type of call that should lead to an investigation.  An "oopsie" like that looks suspiciously like game rigging.  15 seconds to set a dead ball is far beyond the pale.  In a 12 game season, that 1 loss for Wisconsin could be the difference between being the 2nd Big Ten team in a BCS game and being left at home, which equates to big time money.  The college game is a little too high profile for that kind of thing to be acceptable, especially given how subjective rankings are.  You can't afford to have refs making or breaking the game when one loss can completely ruin your season.

My Buckeyes are going to hand the Badgers loss #2 next week anyways, so I don't much care either way, but fark ups like that get people fired in almost every line of work I can think of.

Oh god I hope so, but our recent strategy seems to be 1) open ass 2) insert head. I cite last year versus Florida and Georgia as evidence. Butch seems to have done a better job coaching up the talent than Dooley though, so...

Delusions of grandeur after beating AP and WKU. It's still the mess that Kiffin/Dooley/Hamilton left. Butch seems to be doing things better, and recruiting looks good, but him signing a contract doesn't make UT automatically full of 5 star players. Going to take some time.

That being said, I'd love to see UT beat a ranked SEC team this year.

I have some friends who worked as student trainers and the like in the program over the past few years. According to them the talent is there for better records than what we produced, but Dooley et al made several boneheaded moves (e.g. the handling of Rogers) and just generally lost the locker room. You're correct that we don't have the talent to consistently beat good teams; however, I think if we get into another Florida (up at halftime) or Georgia/Mizzou (shootout to the last minute) game, then we have a better shot at winning now than we did last year. We may not have five star talent, but we should have produced a better on-field product the last couple of years.

If you think a coach with the respect of his players isn't worth a win or two more a year given equal talent, then I kindly submit our embarrassment versus Wyoming as evidence in support of my claim. That game came on the heels of UT announcing Fulmer's "retirement", and the players came out flat. You could clearly see (even from the nosebleed seats I was in) that the players had a "why bother, playing well isn't going to help me going into next year" attitude (most notably, guys on the backside didn't finish out plays). That took what should have been a 7-6 or 6-7 year and made it a 5-7 year.

Voted as funny because this is pretty damn funny. =P

What makes the game even better, is that it is shaping up to effectively be the conference championship. IF Ohio doesn't get too far ahead of itself, and Michigan plays like they know they should (run run run control the clock and play dominant defense) then Nov.30th will be a damn good game.

Northwestern and Wisconsin will be some really good challenges though.

The Game is going to be the defacto conference championship game nearly every year, just like it has been for decades.  If the rest of the Big Ten doesn't get it's shiat together, the disparity between michigan/ohio st and the rest of the conference will continue to widen.

Aside from Wiscy and NW, Indiana has a puncher's chance against anyone with an offense like that.

I agree but I don't see any Wisconsin fans in this thread, if the pac12 had any balls they would give the game to Wisconsin or declare it a draw. That won't happen though since if they do that they could lose money come bowl season.

Now now, don't hate that much, we all know what's going to happen but I knew going in there is no way they would cover the 32.5 point spread so I picked against them. Other UGA fans were like 'how could you do that!?' Its Richt, I can't remember the last time he covered that large of a spread and he's notorious for playing up or down to his opponent.

I think there's some golf on.  The only "big" matchups are going to be the shockers where some scrub upsets a good team.  Georgia just put the nail in the coffin on their cupcake.  That was as close to an exciting game as we've had so far.

Mich St. vs Notre Dame might be a good matchup, but probably won't be a super exciting show.

That season was vacated, the win never happened. Ohio State has never beaten the SEC, that's a fact.

A fact?  NEVER?  Thats funny, because Ohio State is 7-2-1 in regular season games and 0-9 in bowl games (even though they beat Arkansas on the field...) against the SEC.  NEVER?  Check your facts.

Ah, thanks. I've been ignoring NCAAf the past couple of weeks (not by choice), and after a quick scan of today's slate I couldn't find anything that interested me, thought I might be missing something. Guess I'll keep an eye on the scoreboard to see if any upsets start brewing.
