(Think Progress)   Rep. Darrel Issa, in his quest for the absolute truth about Benghazi, may have sorta kinda possibly slightly accidentally forgot to invite the Democrats on the Oversight to join him on his fact-finding trip to Libya   (thinkprogress.org) divider line 499

It would be a shame if some tragedy should befall Issa while he is there.

While not actually visiting Benghazi itself, Issa will be flying out for North Africa on Sunday with stops in Italy and Egypt along the way.

I hear Rome is nice this time of year.

I heard it's costing the taxpayers $200 million a day.

The second biggest mistake Republicans made vis-a-vis Benghazi is putting that douchetard in charge of the investigation.

/the first is thinking there was a scandal

Well, of course! Those America-haters would want facts, not "Freedom Facts" like the assurance Obama personally oversaw the attacks to destroy the bulletin board in the consulate's Rumpus Room showing how Osama, Ghadafi AND Saddam finished atop him in the foosball tournament!

I didn't know you could do this, but I heard he took a large fire insurance policy out on Rome just a few weeks ago. Must be a coincidence.

No, Rep. Issa just wants to make sure the Democrats stay safe back in DC.  It's actually very thoughtful of him.

...

I typed all that with a straight face.

I imagine Issa at home, watching TV, cable goes out, he screams, "Damnit, BENGHAZI!"

Seriously, check his Twitter feed. It's 90% Benghazi. His single focus on this is... interesting.

The Democrats wouldn't even stay in the hearings to listen to the families of those who died.    You really think they would go along on a trip to Libya...

They had a year to go if they chose.

Democrats are looking pretty bad these days.

The definition of true, ultimate karma is Darrell Issa being trapped in a stolen, burning car that uses one of his old Viper alarms. And as the flames get hotter and hotter, the car alarm activates and says "Please die in this car fire" in his voice..... over and over and over again.

No, it's because Obama used an untraceable encrypted subspace wormhole vortex communicator to retroactively issue a stand down order that left our people to die.

As Cumming notes, this isn't even the first time they have done this.  Despite specifically stating that all oversea trips must be bipartisan Issa sent only Repubs over to Libya on a 'fact-finding' mission but concealed the reasoning and did not include any Democrats last October.

I guess we can't complain.  Everyone wanted transparency in government, and this is as transparent a partisan witch hunt as I've ever seen.

I've honest to god never seen anything like it. It's not like PlameGate, where not only was there some 'There' there, it was much higher up than anybody thought, or even Iran Contra where Bill Casey had the good sense to die and take the fall.

This is literally a bunch of nothing.

What's even more disgusting is that the first time Benghazi happened, everybody lived. It was only after that that he decided to rip a whole in the space timecube continuum in order to accidentally four brave patriots.

To think:

If Romney wasn't such a disaster in foreign policy and royally bungled his handling of Benghazi, then the GOP wouldn't have to keep this phony controversy going by trying to make Obama look bad compared to Romney when it comes to foreign policy.

Now it just sounds like sour grapes.

WASHINGTON, DC - The first anniversary of the Benghazi tragedy was supposed to be the time for conservatives around the country to descend on the Capitol by the thousands, demanding that Congress reveal the truth. Less than one hundred bothered to show up.

that's from the linked article. issa and Special Operation Speaks haven't been able to garner support for their indignity and SOS attacks on boehner.

but while issa wastes money on his trip the house can strip 40 BILLION from food stamps.

still wonder why after 42 years of being a republican i stopped.

/actually i stopped in 2004 after bush screwed the pooch on afghanistan and iraq. then came 2008 and the republicans went from bad to god awful.

Sorry, I'm just not feeling it.

It's pretty apparent at this point that the "scandal" of Benghazi resides solely in the GOP's blatant desperate attempts to politicize a tragedy, to try to score cheap political points off the corpses of the dead.

Look. I know trying to defend the GOP's asshattery on a daily basis has to wearing on you but really do try try to have some standards.

His district is a pretty bullet-proof one with some of the most conservative areas in Orange and San Diego County.
