Wow, I thought the supporting cast was paid better than that. Its a crime what they pay Bernadette, She's worth MUCH more than that.

60 grand an episode for 22 episodes a season still comes out to more than a million bucks a year. She's not exactly slumming it.

Meh.. This is usually the beginning of the end when salary demands of TV shows make the news.. Yeah.. Must suck to make more than the average persons yearly salary in one episode...

Yeah, even though Three's Company continued after they lost Chrissy, it was never the same and was pretty much doomed.

Why would Howard make so much more than Raj. Aren't they the same level of supporting cast?

Although I guess Howard's part has gotten bigger over the past few years and Raj has just been there with zero development.

It's an entertaining show, and unusually intelligent for a network sitcom. More power to them, I say.

I never got the "nerd blackface" butthurt. Sure, there is some stereotypical behavior, but it's not far off the mark (check any Star Trek threads if you beg to differ), but it actually shows nerdy guys having varying levels of success with pretty women. It should be giving some of these chuds hope.

The show is based on a stupid person's idea of what a smart person is like. That's the problem. And if you can't tell that, then guess which category you fall in.

I have no problem with being called stupid by someone who gets a lit tampon fuse over a farking sitcom.

Are you mad that Cheers didn't accurately depict bartenders and barflies? What about Gomer Pyle's flagrant violations of USMC protocol? Or Taxi's flagrant misrepresentation of life in a real NYC cab stand?

The show is what a writer thinks a group of socially stunted smart people is like. The kind of people who go all Asbergers if someone can't tell the difference between Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica. It's in broad strokes, obviously, but so are all sitcoms.

Lets see, she makes $60000/episode.
Episode is shot in one week, so 40hrs
that is $1500/hr or $25/min
Average time a typical farker can last 30 sec.
So $12.50
not really that expensive.

Actually, this is the cash-in time. The stars are being rewarded for their work in building the series with their big paydays, and the network does almost zero work to promote a well established show, and everyone involved gets paid. Big time.

Sure, it'll be over in 3 years or so, but this is the moment everyone involved has worked for. You can't keep it going forever.

You do realize you are talking to people who wet their pants in trembling rage if you refer to "that episode of Star Trek where Kirk fights the lizard man". Because first of all, you didn't specify "TOS", so major party foul right there, Buster. And that episode, I'll have you know is "Arena", episode 18 season 1 of TOS. I enjoyed it for the first few seasons but after a hundred episodes I kinda wish they would have wrapped it up. That said, I hope the actors manage to milk the show before it goes too sour and gets canned.

2013-09-21 02:46:09 PM
This is disgusting. The hundreds of millions of dollars this show brings in through commercials, DVD and iTunes sales, and syndication should go to the top level executives vice presidents who help make this show what it is today. The actors should continue to make the exact same amount they made when the show was a gamble for a time slot.

Now if the writers want more money that's a totally different matter and easy to solve. farking fire them and get some newly graduated nerds from Yale or Princeton to work as non-paid interns each season. It would be good for their resumes.

The Big Bang Theory, a show about two physicists who live together in an apartment (and also have an engineer friend who lives with his mother) down the hall from a single woman who works at The Cheesecake Factory. She's the normal, uneducated person with social skills while they are educated man-children lacking in social skills. Naturally, she's the one we're supposed to relate to.

It seems like TBBT's defenders don't understand the underlying point to comparing TBBT to blackface. I'll shift it to another oppressed minority. Imagine if Penny lived down the hall from a pair of gay people and hung out with them and their flaming gay friends and world of completely out of the closet homosexuals. Every episode it's jokes about sex between men in which referring to a blowjob is the joke. Just the idea that Sheldon and Leonard take it up the ass makes the audience roll with laughter. Watching Sheldon talk with an outrageous overpronounced "s" is the punchline to every joke that comes out of his mouth. It's hilarious that Ranjin is so gay that he can't process women.

It would be horrifying. No one is saying that nerds have the same civil issues as blacks or homosexuals in my example. The point is that if the same level of humor was used in that manner towards oppressed minorities the show would be considered vile and insulting. It's Amos'n'Andy rather than The Jeffersons or Sanford & Son.

TBBT is unfunny nerdsploitation. I don't know who its target audience is supposed to be, but it ain't me. It's exactly the kind of show that makes me glad I keep my interests to myself in public.
