Still 404 here.

FTFA:  Although underneath the bonnet is a fairly standard 2.2-litre Chevy engine, generating 270 BHP and averaging 26mpg, it's the chassis that has everyone so excited - given that it resembles some kind of alien space vehicle (with doors that fold upwards like the De Lorean from the Back To The Future films).

When this sucker hits 88 MPH, you're gonna see some serious shiat.

What states would that thing be road legal?

Good luck the first time you hit a speed bump of a pothole.

And it reminded me of this:

Yeah, like the common cold, potholes are also crippling to aliens.

/saw a lowered geo metro get stranded on a speed bump once, was amusing to everyone not in the vehicle
//raising I can understand, lowering (outside of a closed track) is just asking for trouble

It's a shoe.

You'd better hope that thing can fly because that half-inch of ground clearance isn't going to cut it driving.

It's ok, all extraterrestrial terrains are paved and heavily maintained.

2013-09-21 03:30:17 AM
Unless it also floats about 1 foot off the ground, I suspect the oil will be hitting the anus (pavement) on the 2nd pothole.....

2013-09-21 03:33:56 AM
Oh sure, someone chews a guy's face off or drunkenly tries to exorcise the devil from their 80 year old girlfriend and its, "oooh, Floooorida - their so weird and awwwful, here comes the Florida tag for another stomach-churning disaster of a news story...guess what state...mweeh he heee."

Guy residing in the Greatest Dangle State makes an awesome looking future car/speed bump seesaw and whats the tag? WHATS THE farkING TAG!?!? COOL?

You take your "Cool" and SHOVE IT!!!  FLURDA!!

pothole hell, as low as it appears you'd probably have to write it off as totaled if you ran over a candy wrapper.

Looks more like an Extra Testicle.

404 polar bear?

2013-09-21 03:40:54 AM
For those who are saying it's too low, there is video of him driving it on the freeway and, from what I read, the thing has air suspension so you can raise it over speedbumps.  I'm not saying it's a practical daily driver, but it's also not going to fall apart the first time you take it across a parking lot.  Apparently, the dude does a lot of other custom work and has made several versions of this car already.

it says it's cleared for the road in TFA....

FTFA:
'You are looking at a vehicle which receives more pictures taken of it on a daily basis then any Lamborghini or Ferrari,' Mr Vetter writes in his description.

If the dude doesn't understand the difference between "then" and "than", then I doubt I can trust his creation to be more than a mere death trap.

"This is not a kit car"

You know, aside from it being a Cobalt with a kit on it which replaces the body.

How can they tell what the chassis resembles with all that custom bodywork hiding it?

They couldn't just get out of the car, pick it up, and put it down off the speed bump?  It's a friggin Metro... My lunch weighs more than that.

If nothing else it illustrates the fuel edficiency that can gained by situating a vehicle's wheels inboard of a lowered aerodynamic shell.
