You'd think the market would quickly correct for a farmer who mistreats his livestock.  After all, what good is a dead or unhealthy animal to any buyer?

I can see how this happens to horses though.  Few people really need a horse and soon enough they realize they're stuck with one expensive hobby.

FTA :   a psychiatrist had previously found him to be suffering from paranoia and he doesn't trust them.

That stands to reason.

There are very few heat rays in Moncton, believe me.

Good luck, Mr. Bock. They'll never find out about my bovine death-ray.  I've made sure of that.

Murder of a cow is a crime in Canada?

What, is is the same as spousal homicide?

Yes, it's the same as killing whales in the US.

Interestingly enough and only tangentially related, the USAF paid off rangers in northern Nevada after their cattle showed up dead with big holes burned in them.

Could have gone with the Obvious tag and a quote from TFA:

This man's neighbors doubt he is behind this. The feeling in the area is that someone is tampering with his herd. The vast majority of his cattle are in very good shape. This evening, on a local group, the people were saying this has been happening since the 70s and the injured animals have holes and that his beloved dog met a similar fate years back.

Yeah, we got in trouble over that. We had to pay it out of our weapon system completion bonus. However, the video of the looks on those cow's faces - priceless.

"Then something struck the cows. Certain areas or sometimes the whole body would be uncannily shrivelled or compressed, and atrocious collapses or disintegrations were common. In the last stages - and death was always the result - there would be a greying and turning brittle like that which beset the hogs. There could be no question of poison, for all the cases occurred in a locked and undisturbed barn. No bites of prowling things could have brought the virus, for what live beast of earth can pass through solid obstacles? It must be only natural disease - yet what disease could wreak such results was beyond any mind's guessing. When the harvest came there was not an animal surviving on the place, for the stock and poultry were dead and the dogs had run away. These dogs, three in number, had all vanished one night and were never heard of again."

Lovecraft. The Colour Out Of Space. Great short story. Sort of acceptable German movie with subtitles, in which the color turns out to be a sort of pinky-purple.

On a side note, does anyone know if lasers have an effect on bees or beehives (the bee colony, not the hairdo)?

The Illuminati, using processes first given to them by the Grays back in 1947, after the Roswell Incident, but before Eisenhower made the ET-Human alliance official. This is why the Grays from Zeta Reticuli need cattle and human parts collected during their harvesting operations.
These are "persons" who look every bit as real, as a real person, but simulate human beings. Certain tissues extracted from cattle are the starting point. (This is part of the reason for cattle mutilations.) The process is an advancement of a process discovered in the late 1950's. This 1959 experiment was reported in a book in 1968 called The Biological Time Bomb by Gordon Rettray Taylor.
Taylor describes the experiment done in France, "They had extracted DNA from the cells of the khaki Cam phells and had injected it into the white Pekins, thinking that just possibly the offspring of the latter might show some character derived from khaki Campbells. To their astonishment the actual ducks they injected began to change. Their white feathers darkened, and their necks began to take on the peculiar curve which is a mark of the khaki Campbell."
The scientists working under the auspices of the Rothschilds, developed this process by working at secret breakneck speed. They developed an advanced development of the process they discovered with the DNA chicken experiment. By the late 1970's, synthetic people could be produced by the Illuminati.

In addition, there are more basic uses for this human/cattle slurry like the basic Gray food source.

It would sort of depend on the power level, eh?
