The change from dick jokes to disciple of Bill Hicks was so gradual I hardly noticed.

Louis C.K. doesn't want his kids to have cell phones until they are older?

Yeah, that's edgy. Do any other parents feel this way? I bet they will ask these questions about cell phones now.

So I'm a fan of the way my parents did it.  We got prepaid phones at 25c/minute (dropping to 10c after the first 10 minutes)

You were required to add $60/year or they'd cancel the line, so my parents added that.  Anything after that was on us.

So I'd occasionally call home "Hey, can I have a ride from Point P at Time T?", and my sister would spend hundreds of dollars yacking on her phone.

/Took that stupid sucker to college.
//And then I discovered Google Voice, and just made all my calls from my computer.
///Because there was no cell service on campus.

That's all well and good, but what he thinks is emptiness in other people I just call boredom.

So this is the Millennial walking-up-hill-in-the-snow-both-ways? I weep for our future.

Someone said it in the Gawker comments and I'll say it here; it's easy to say that you should occasionally revel in the sad parts of life if you are a rich, famous, and got that way by doing your dream job. I like C.K; but he get farking tedious sometimes; and his fans don't help.

I just think that for most parents, getting their children cell phones is an easy sell because they figure it's a way to keep their kids on a shorter leash.

Modern parents are terrified about being anything more than a quick phone call away from their kids.

He also has a bit where he talks about them not being allowed to watch TV.

Yeah - he's an old cliche' referencing another old cliche'... and I'm edgy cause I highlight these factors in a thread.

Looka me now.
