There's a website. It's the very first thing that comes up if you google "talk like a pirate." You can use the stupid I'm Feeling Lucky button and somehow stumble upon it.

Fine reporting there, Lou.

Because they couldn't major in anything else since math is hard.

Culture of Fear.

Back in my day, to get out of class you had to phone in a bomb threat, which is in and of itself a crime. That the call itself was a crime regardless of how true it was acted as a deterrant to preven it from happening often.

To get out of class now you just call in a suspicious person near the school. Best part is you're unlikely to get in trouble no matter what. In fact if you find an actual person acting even a little weird to report as the suspicious person, your 'victim' is more likely to get in trouble than you are. There is after all, no real standard on what constitutes suspicious behavior. Same things apply to suspicious packages and again, the person who owns the package is more likely to get in trouble than you regardless of how benign the package actually is.

Not that I'm saying these pirates were reported as suspicious by someone who just wanted to get out of class, but it was aliens.

That's the root of a good idea, there. We just need to work out some details.

I suggest that people just post one disposable diaper to someone responsible for overreacting to a "threat".

You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick. And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people mailing diapers? They may think it's an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day mailing diapers? And friends they may think it's a movement.

Because those people get shiatty pay and no respect. If we valued teachers, we'd have good ones.

I notice the same sort of thinking on those Customs/Border tv shows - the officicials get a 'gutt feelling' and the proceed to give some poor traveller the full treatment. Firstly the dogs do not react, then they do a swab test (which comes up negative), still following their gutts, they give the traveller a pat down and remove everything from their luggage, still nothing -> oh it must be inside them -> X-Rays. When the later also shows nothing, the custom peeps never admit the were wrong but instead say something like "I still have suspicions" or "Even with our best efforts some get through" or maybe "Travellers need to understand that we are doing this for their own protection."   Have also seen dogs give positive responses (often from persistent 'pushing' by the handler) sooo many times and yet in the end there is nothing to find.  And yet somehow or other we are becoming more and more accepting of this sort of invasion of our personal space and privacy (those nude scanners are just the icing on the cake.)
