GUN THREAD!

Still a little baffled into why Arizona doesn't have their own tag yet.

This will end well, for sure! It's not like anyone has ever had a terrible day at work!

Oh, right. My Desert Eagle says otherwise! If you want your leftover Chinese takeout, you better upgrade, pussy!

You couldn't pay me enough to work someplace where civilians are packing, thanks very much.

It's killing me - what are they doing in that picture?

It looks like they're shooting from the hip without aiming while either blocking upwards or shielding their eyes from the sun. I can only assume I've misunderstood.

But workers at Neal's company have to get trained before they show up with a firearm.

Whoah, whoah, WHOAH!

That sounds like INFRINGEMENT to me!

Anyone who's worked for a large company knows this is a terrible idea.

You're probably right but look at the targets; they're only 2 arm lengths away.  This is probably one part of the training.  Unless the firearm is already drawn, I would be more inclined to attack the neck with the pen already in my hand or sweep the leg*.

/*leg - yes, that was a joke

From this write-up and from their webpage, that actually sounds like a really great place to work. They're only 15 minutes from me, too, which would cut my commute in half.

Might be worth it to stop in and see if they need a fabrication guy.

The raised arm is probably to keep them from shooting themselves.  You've gotta put it somewhere you've got no chance of hitting it, and behind your back isn't a good spot in a fight.

Where is the OUTRAGE? Where is the butthurt? oh wait, the trolls have not arrived yet. Sounds like an awesome place to work. It is amazing what real grown up, mature, adults can do. As for those who are scared to work there, you do realize that on the Navy Yard all the guns were  locked up except for the ones the LEO's carry and those got taken away and used.  Yep, it is true, you are not safe anywhere there are insane people. Even if you are strapped and packing.

Yeah, because disgruntled workers LOVE to open fire on a workplace that is already armed.

Seriously, think about it for 5 seconds. Nobody is going to open fire knowing that there are guns there, unless they're trying for a civilian version of 'Suicide by Cop'.

I looking forward to how this all plays out.

Yeah because nobody has ever had a complete mental breakdown at work and lost their ability to be rational and objective. Crimes of passion just don't work that way.

Why is it gun nuts think mass shooters are rational or reasonable or have plans for dinner afterwards? This will make it much easier to bring in his arsenal and prioritize his targets, though.

Why is it that morons label anyone who takes the opposite side from them a "gun nut"?

Meh, I've brought guns to work before, but only when I'm going to the range at lunch or afterwards or whatever.

Still have yet to shoot the place up, though, and I doubt anyone is aware of what's in the extra bag...

Real grown up mature adults? What planet do you live on? The average person is an idiot who should not IMHO be trusted to carry all day every day less than 10 feet from me. I don't mind the odd CCW but would have a big problem knowing that there are a dozen (plus) people sitting within easy "accidental discharge" range of me for hundreds of hours a year.

Or for the lulz you could steal one shooter's lunch and make it look like another shooter took it. Then grab the popcorn while they Stand Their Ground against each other.

Because they argue from emotion instead of from logic.

Well that was certainly a hypocritical way to phrase your point.

Personally, I find the phrase "gun-tard" offensive.

Not really, I was addressing the point of being called a derogatory term with no preamble. It takes a real moron to call someone a derogatory term with no preamble, so he left himself wide open. The "preamble" in my case was his attack.

I'm surprised that this is a story.  Other than among the few places you don't want armed employees is in machine shops, or where there are compressed gases or lots of inflammable fuels or MRI machines.

The first place that I knew of that did this was like 25 years ago.  A clerical office building near a bad part of town.  One of their employees was badly mugged after working late one night, so the owner "required" (entirely voluntary) the employees to be armed.  At first, only some of the men did it, so he shelled out for the women to get training, after which several of them carried as well.

Importantly, it was a big boost to morale, as it showed both that the company cared for its employees when it mattered, and also because it implied it would back them if they ever had to defend themselves.  Eventually it turned into a recreational thing as well, because every now and then they would go as a group to the range for shooting practice.

The bottom line was that it was actually a pretty mundane thing.  Nobody got shot, there were no more incidents.  But since then a lot of other businesses have done the same thing, and a few of them had employees who chased off car thieves, spray paint vandals, and other petty stuff.  Again no gunfire, because there was no need for gunfire.

Had they not been armed, however, they might have needed to be.

Jument: You couldn't pay me enough to work someplace where civilians are packing, thanks very much.

Back when I was a kid (17), my first real job was delivering pizza.  Almost all the drivers had guns in their cars (I wasn't old enough at the time to have a pistol) and the owner encouraged all the night managers to have something when they were closing up shop and taking the money to the night deposit box.  "if you don't have one I'll loan you one, and teach you how to use it"  In the four years I worked there nobody ever fired a shot, but at least two robberies were averted.

I've always found it interesting that leftist are the first to tell you that everyone is idiots. Then turn around and say that we shouldn't check of ID before we vote.  Disenfranchising they call it.  So which is it, are we a nation of adults who thoughtfully vote for the best politician and understand the consequences of our actions, or are we a mindless throng that can't be trusted with a big gulp let alone a life or death decision.

Or you could move to a civilized part of the country and no one would steal it there.
