In totally unrelated news, 10% of Arkansas businesses are having mass lay-offs today.  Career fairs tomorrow.

I hope this is what happens in Oklahoma, where the national guard (i think?) is ignoring same-sex marriages for benefits

That's a case of literally the exact opposite.  The paperwork has to be filed at a non-state location.  The state passed into law that government bodies will not recognize "gay marriage" and therefore processing the paperwork at the state funded National Gaurd is illegal.

i may hate my hometown (hope, ar), but at least the state as a whole is slowly crawling into the 21st century. they finally got lottery gambling a couple years ago..."arkansas scholarship lottery" and charity bingo...after losing all that revenue for many years to all the surrounding states! and now they're recognizing other states' recognition of human rights.

same thing in texas. texas constitution defines marriage as one man & one woman, making state-level same-sex marriage and related issues not legal. texas guard has been telling same-sex guard couples to go to federal facilities to apply.

lol.

The other thing is: don't you always have to follow the labor laws for whatever jurisdiction you're operating in? Is this article just a result of law and enforcement catching up with the SCOTUS ruling?

When it's all said and done, it's nice to know you can count on some things never changing, like Scalia, he will always be a raging, hypocritical partisan activist fraud who either doesn't understand the job of the Supreme Court, or is so drunk with the power of a lifetime appointment that he thinks the court should only be there to serve his own interests.  Judging by how he acts compared to the fact that he calls himself a strict constitutionalist, I'm pretty sure he either doesn't understand what strict means, or he's never read the constitution.

So this isn't so much about the "full faith and credit" clause as the fact that many corporate retirement plans are governed by Federal law and therefore cannot discriminate against same-sex couples.

Why not both?

I was going to point this out and say that this is probably exciting news for the 8 Wal Mart employees who qualify for benefits.

Due the to diversity in America I am all for states and localities taking the lead in making laws that specifically suit them and their citizens.... keeping the federal input to a minimum and not involved with the minutia of local day to day life.

However same sex marriage should be federal law, not state law. Stupid that you can cross a state line and all of the sudden no longer be married.

How about we just put the whole marriage system to pasture and ban marriage for everyone? I mean allowing men and women to get married is just a slipperty slope that will eventually end with frogs marrying walruses and pillows marrying moons. Think of all the children out there that are harmed by divorce! Marriage is a scourge on humanity, and hold us back from being the polyamorous creatures that nature intended us to be.

And soon,  the cat and the silver spoon are going to be legally allowed to do whatever they want in that cradle of theirs, and you don't even want to know the plans the man-in-the-moon has for that little kid.

Disgraceful.

And I'm sure the rejection of the proposed marraige equality amendment FTFA was rejected because the amendment banning gay marriage is on the books. That why the group Arkansans For Equality has submitted and been approved for a ballot initiative to repeal the ban.

Locals, look out for signature drives in your area soon. It has to get 75,000.

I am sure those groups are significant portions of the arkansas population.

In Arkansas, you are correct sir.

If you throw a rock within any city's limits, you're likely to hit a Christian church. Even the local Korean church is Christian.
