Truex is at some sort of NAPA event now too?! Perfect timing

NASCAR Wonka @NASCAR_Wonka

Truex doing an appearance for NAPA is like a guy doing an appearance at his in-laws for Christmas after his ex-wife took everything he owned

Lots of interesting rumors going around.

truex jr might end up with furniture row and they want to switch to Toyota.

Will they merge with MWR or will Toyota dump them out right?

That's what you get for cheating.

I actually feel bad for Truex. He seems to have been the only one who didn't do anything wrong but is getting all the punishment.

But at least this means no more shaking Mikey butt NAPA commercials...

I feel bad for Truex, too. He just looks so damned sad now and I don't think it was any more his fault than what Bowyer and Logano did to effect the outcome.

Oh, and I could have lived my whole life without seeing Mikey shake his butt...so NAPA leaving is good news to me.

It is a tough road for Toyota, if they dump MWR they could lose some of their other teams.  That said I don't see MWR surviving past this season, Micheal will probably lose his announcing gig, what happens to DW is going to be interesting.

If every cheating team was busted, the field would consist of nothing but start/parkers.

My question about Truex is: Did his agent put a reverse morality clause in his contract?  If so he can be a free agent.

Mikey finds out that NAPA actually stands for napalm.

I know they've won titles, but the 48 team has been caught MULTIPLE teams for cheating and Lowe's doesn't blink an eye.

NAPA used a a tactical nuclear weapon to deal with a short-term problem.

Well, I concede that this headline was better than what I had.  Plus, I got beat to it.

So that's one down.  I wonder if 5 Hour Energy's next, or if they're going to wait until MWR farks up again like NAPA did?

This is the most mindboggling thing I've ever read on any sports thread.

You honestly believe DW will get in trouble for something his brother did?  SERIOUSLY?  He had nothing to do with what happened and he's one of the most beloved media personalities in NASCAR.

Even with all of Paula Deen's transgressions, Food Network still kept her sons' shows on the air.

Depends if he defends Micheal too much in the eyes of NASCAR.  The France family will have nothing but 100% obedience from the broadcasters when it comes to their image.

IIRC, DW's all but said Mikey's on his own for this one.

His saving grace may be that he didn't have to call the races when this happened.

Interesting as NAPA had just signed a long term deal with MWR.  But since then:

Junior still is looking for 13 or 14 races next season to sponsor his car.

Austin Dillon may have a General Mills/Cheerios deal in the #3 in Cup next season.  I wonder if NAPA maybe wants on that 3 car and this is their way of getting in position to make a deal happen with RCR.

three thoughts...

1. NAPA has a plan.  A company like that -- with a advertising media budget of > $25 million plus the $16-20 million for the primary sponsorship -- doesn't jettison a 12-year partner without knowing exactly where that money is going next.
B. Aaron's won't leave MWR.  Their entire business plan is based on the illusion of ethics while milking the less fortunate for every single red penny they can.  It's a perfect union.
III. The whole NASCAR TV broadcast trend of employing current owners as "analysts" stinks.  I had hoped that when Rusty got caught up in the US Fidelis boondoggle ( not to mention his unabashed apologist stance towards his no-talent son during broadcasts ) it would end, but alas, the biased broadcast analyst beat carries on.

That #3 had better be 'shopped, because do you realize what kind of riot will commence if Dillon runs that number?  Yes we know it wasn't Earnhardt's to begin with, but the average fan will be in outrage and Fox will come right out of the gate with the mandatory Danica-cam focused on the #3 car instead.

It's a problem every season. NASCAR brought the hammer down to send a message to all teams.

According to RCR's twitter, that particular picture of the car was just a test shoot, but yes the #3 will be on the track next year.  I think Austin has earned it and will do a good job.

I'm actually looking forward to less Danica, even if that means more of a Dillon. I'll probably change my mind after a few races.

Anyone besides myself see a For Sale sign on MWR by end of 2014 race season? How can he take a $20 MILLION (15 mill from NAPA and at least 5 from the Chase Bonus) dollar hit and still be viable?  He's in deep with his co-owner who bailed out MWR when Michael went bankrupt.

As far as the 3 car.... going to be a lot of eyes on him next year

It's back but I agree. DERP DERP DERP WE WANT DALE BACK IN THE 3. Darrell is gonna give Austin so much fellatio next year too.

Napa rumors heard so far:
Truex/Napa to 78 car
Kurt Busch's SHR car
Tony Stewart for a couple of races
Dale Jr. Partial season
Leaves the sport altogether
Sponsoring Juan Montoya in Penske IICS

NAPA was stupid on spending 16 mil on the mid-pack Truex each year with rising costs in NASCAR plus a full 38-race schedule with lessening ROI each year. Glad they pulled out like they did (is 3M listening? Biffle is aging)

Nationwide is dropping sponsorship of the series. Napa may grab that.

The 78 rumor is just dumb. NAPA is gonna want a full sponsorship wherever they go and Furniture Row is not going to allow someone -else- to full sponsor -their- car. Likewise I have a hard time believing any partial season rumors. The rest I could see.

It all depends on what Toyota does. The team will live or die based on what TRD wants.

Oh, it's real.

What gets me is that they seem to think it's good because it's not the black GM Goodrich sponsored car. I think it should be.

I could easily see Truex at FRR (sans NAPA) in that case.

32 million farking dollars for two years of sponsorship to dominate races only to have a mysterious late race caution give your moron pit crew a chance to fark it all up for ya. Maybe NAPA just got fed up especially after that happened last season to them at their home track of Atlanta.

Too bad the days of guys whos dad had a junkyard or medium sized business like the Elliotts or the Wood Brothers starting a team and becoming legends has been gone for years. Hell the Busch brothers couldn't even afford to move up to late models even though they were dominating their Nevada local track. It was only because that guy got murdered that Kurt got a shot at moving up. The best stock car driver i the world Dale SR reincarnated is probably stuck in mini stocks at some obscure dirt track while guys with the big $$ able to get millions of dollars from sponsors and are fabulous male model pretty boys get to go to the big leagues.

Some "sport" we have here.
