Given how the season has started this actually an intriguing game as, let's face it, when the schedule came out months ago only KC and Philly fans circled it.

I'm no Chiefs fan, but they still get props from me for beating the Dallas Romos.

For whatever reason, and I'm not entirely clear on why, I'll be rooting for the Eagles.

I don't have any faith in Stevie Johnson, but Eddie Royal isn't exactly consistent and TY Hilton is feast for famine. Knowshon may be starting, but who knows what he'll do...meanwhile, Ridley has been a bust so far. Cam and Schaub seem to be lateral moves. Ugh.

Kansas City Chiefs at Philadelphia Eagles:
Kansas City boasts the third-best defense in the NFL (yds/game), and only Seattle has allowed fewer points...but KC has compiled those marks against Jacksonville and Dallas. Philadelphia boasts the second-best offense in the NFL (yds/game), and only Denver and Green Bay have outscored them...but those numbers came against Washington and San Diego. Tonight we discover which unit is the bigger pretender (because neither is as good as the numbers make them look), and my money is on the Chiefs' defense coming up small. More importantly to the final result, though, is the fact that Kansas City is not exactly built to take full advantage of the Eagles' weekly fourth-quarter collapse, enabling Philly to limp to the finish line with their second victory of the 2013 campaign. 30-23

I don't mean to be hyperbolic, but if you put BBQ sauce on that cheesesteak, there is a good chance you'll be murdered on the spot.

Chef's privilege, I think.

If it were me:

Stick with Cam - probably going to be high scoring with 2 new corners in Carolina and Cam playing keep up/catch up
I'd probably go Royal over Johnson with Floyd still out. If Julio can't go, leave Johnson and put Royal there
RB - yikes - if I had to choose I'd probably stick with Ridley and hope he tuns it around (esp. with Vereen out)

I'd shiat if Andy onside kicks it to start the game. Yet I can almost see him doing it. But I just don't see how you can risk a possession against the Eagle offense on a short week in a game that's probably going to be decided by one score...barring the standard turnovers/injuries.

Seeing the way Rivers is targeting Royal, i'd have him in for Garcon or Johnson

I have both Cam & Royal and am starting them both.

Cam over Romo and A. Smith..... I am hoping that Newton finally has a "Newton" game (1-2 pass TD, 1-2 rush TD, 80 rush yd)... and hopefully against the ailing NY defense at home he can.

Royal... Floyd is out in SD... Rivers is throwing the ball well, and seems to have something going with Royal... ride that until it starts to dry up.

Okay step one. Quietly quit your league.

Step two. Draft another team

Step 3. Hope your new team and league will compile more points than that sh*tshow of a team you posted

Does Philly have a defense? Or is it more a suggestion?

2013-09-19 04:53:32 PM

Nadie_AZ: Does Philly have a defense?

No. No pass rush and no pass coverage. They have players that are going all out for the turnover, hoping that the extra possession or two a game will be all the offense needs. But they can't stop any team with an above average O line and QB. Not yet, anyway.

2013-09-19 05:06:10 PM

On the flip side, Philly is operating on two short weeks.

2013-09-19 06:02:01 PM
UGH.  Barring a total collapse of the KC offensive line, I'd say KC wins.  As long as you let Alex throw unmolested in the pocket, he's damn good.  You have to get him running out of the pocket, you have to pressure him; that's when he falls apart.

Can the Iggles do that?

/hmmm

2013-09-19 07:36:22 PM
My prediction:  First quarter will be high energy, crazy football, very entertaining.  Then some mistakes will start to be made, KC will figure out Philly's offense, there will be some clownshoes, Vick will take some hard hits because the O-line is weak, and by the middle of the 4th quarter I won't even be waiting for commercial breaks to post pics of Random Pretty Girls because it'll be over.

2013-09-19 07:48:58 PM
I forgot that I have Dwayne Bowe. Never mind my comment saying I'd be rooting for Philly. I'll be rooting for Dwayne Bowe.

This is the game Vick gets hurt. Thursday game means more injuries and Chip's offense doesn't give him a chance to slow down.

2013-09-19 07:50:13 PM
But I don't get cable....dammit.

And my connection couldn't stream a low res lolcat.

So, I'll leave my prediction.

Michael Vick is trampled in Philly's second possession. Out for the season.

Enjoy the game. Dammit.

I've got my Super Five longsleeve shirt and my number 5 jersey on. It's time for Donovan McNabb Appreciation Night.

Why the hell has NFL Network been doing its pregame from a damn KC bar in Philly? Did Paddy's Pub end up with a bunch of kids stabbing them with compasses?

2013-09-19 07:50:51 PM
I may be the only Eagles fan who was upset that Reid left. It's tough seeing him in a different color now; really hope he gets to win the big one in the next few years.

A) I don't think he gets hurt, because Reid won't allow it
B) I'm still waiting to see a Andy picture from this year with the caption "BBQ SERVED ITS PURPOSE"; maybe if they are 3-0 the PSers will step it up and be awesome (since I have no skills)

Hmm. I have an interesting issue here. I have Bowe on my bench currently with Reggie Wayne vs. SF, Jordy Nelson vs. CIN and AJ Green vs. GB in my lineup.

Considering benching Wayne for Bowe. Thoughts?

Week 3 picks!

2013 week 3
Thursday
KC @ PHI
Andy Reid's return to Philly. Chip Kelly's breakneck speed, learn on the fly offense that's as bad for his defense as the opposing QB is. Andy's new west-coast wunderkind Alex Smiff and squad chock full of talent. A short week. Can Mike Vick stay upright? Can the defense stay upright?
Pick: Chefs

Sunday early
HOU @ BAL
Even before the injuries to Ray Rice and co started to pile up, this would be a test for a healthy Ravens squad. Houston just has so many weapons...and JJ Watt. While Baltimore's defense is younger and a little stouter against the run, they give up too many yards. You can score on them, and that puts the onus on their offense to keep up. And against that Houston defense, a tall order.
Pick: Texans

NYG @ CAR
This is a tougher one to pick. Two 0-2 squads underperforming where the expectations had them. The Giants still have a good pass rush with the front four, but behind that is weakness. The offense isn't running well, the line is spotty at best, and Eli is his usual bipolar-performance machine.
Cam Netwon may well have hit his ceiling. He just doesn't seem to be able to get over the hump...he's got talented runners, a stout line....and no receivers other than Steve Smith 1.0, who by my count is like 47 years old or so. They've been being drug along by the defense for too long. While the strength of the team is tackling monster Luke Kuechly, they need to start putting points on the board if they want to win games. This could be Rivera's last season if he doesn't start getting some Ws. Which he won't get against the Giants.
Pick: New York.

GB @ CIN
The Pack looked a lot worse on defense against SF in week one than they are. And then, in obliterating Washington in week two, they looked a lot better than they are. In reality, they're somewhere in the middle. Against a good Bengals offense with a multiple weapons and dynamic tight ends, they will be challenged. Law Firm is a good back, but he won't be a huge part of the action at the end of the day...it'll be intermediate passes where there are linebackers in coverage that will make or break this defense.
They're playing in Cinci, which is a plus for the Cats. But Aaron Rodgers is as completely in command of the Green bay offense as Peyton is in Denver. And I don't see the Bengals defense able to cover all of the Packers' weapons. They'll need to go for a power pass rush and hope they can outplay a suspect offensive line. Rookie Bahktiari shows great promise at left tackle, but he's a raw talent that can make the occasional error or get schooled by a veteran move.
Pick: Green Bay

STL @ DAL
St. Louis plays very, very good defense, and the issue as of late has been the offense. They're starting to address that now, and they are showing promise. Dallas has playmakers, but the Rams' D might well be good enough to hold them to a very low point total. Which will then reverse the equation: Can the Rams offense with Sam Bradford at the helm score points against the Monte Kiffin Cowboy defense. Some, but not much, I think.
Vegas says the host Cowboys by 3.5 or 4, which is pretty close to even. I'm going against the grain here and taking the upstart Rams.

CLE @ MIN
On one hand, you have Christian Ponder. On the other, Weeden's thumb is jacked up so you have Brian Hoyer getting the start for Cleveland. What the hell happened to Jason Campbell? There aren't many QBs that balance out against Ponder as a push. but here we are. Plus, no more Trent Richardson banging out 3.3 in between the tackles...although, really, is Willis McGahee any different in production on three days with the playbook at this point?
Cleveland's defense is stout, but the Minnesota defense plays Green Bay, Detroit, and Chicago regularly, and practices against AP. And they're at home. I gotta say, the safe pick here is the Vikings. And I feel dirty even typing that.

TB @ NE
I have my doubts about Shiano's ability to lead this team long term...he may well have already lost the team in the locker room. Not that this actually matters going up against Darth Hoodie and Lil' Tommy Brieber.
As poorly as the New England offense has been playing lately, the wild pass rush of Tampa's front four may well keep this a close game well into the second half. But I don't delude myself to think they have much of a real shot at an upset.

ARI @ NO
This is a tough game to pick. A lot of this has to do with Larry's hamstring. If he's 100%, they have a chance. Their D is flat-out excellent, especially at the back end with Petersen and Matheiu. Don't slouch on their down line either.
But the Breesus is the Breesus, and Sproles is arguably the most dangerous multi-purpose running back in football. So long as he and Jimmy Graham are upright, I can't pick against Drew at home. Not with a clean conscience at least.

SD @ TEN
This is totally a hunch pick. The Tits, at home, will squeak this one out. Book it, done.
DET @ WAS
Even as Bobby Three-sticks works his way back from his kneepocalypse (thanks, Adrian Peterson, for farking up the expectations for return of every knee injury football player ever after you), the offense will struggle. Until he can plant that leg and power through his throws like last year, you'll have the scattergun passer we've seen for two weeks now. That isn't good for Washington.
Plus, that defense is craptacular. The potent Lions offense is probably going to go for 35+ points and 500+ yards on this bunch of gimps. This will not end well for the hosting Persons That Shall Not Be Named.

Sunday afternoon
ATL @ MIA
Vegas says the visiting Birds by about 1.5 to 2. Now, the Miami pass rush is going to make Matty Hype's day pretty busy, and the lack of Steven Jackson to keep them honest will make them even more reliant on the passing game. It'll come down to how quickly he can get the ball out of his hands into his plethora of receiving weapons in the face of the rush.
Miami has very quietly gone 2-0. Mike Wallace wasn't happy about how week one went other than the win, and was plenty re-happied with the 9-catch, 160-some-odd yards in week two. We'll see with Mikey shows up for week 3. I have a feeling that Miami will put point up this year, just not as fast as some would like.
I'm going to go with the upset pick in Miami. Losing Koy Biermann *and* Weatherspoon on the Falcons D is a big issue, and something about this matchup is whispering 'upset' in my ear...I gotta reach for it.

BUF @ NYJ
As bad as the Bills have been recently, the J E S T are worse. At least the Buffalo D has shown up and started making plays, and the team is rallying around rookie EJ Manuel.
Don't think this will be a walk in the park. The New York D will make them work for it...but I'm going with the visiting Bills to hand the J E S T a loss at home.

JAC @ SEA
*snerk

IND @ SF
Andrew Luck is a damn fine kid and will be a really good QB as he matures. The SF defense, at their home clubhouse, are going to make him wish he stayed a couple more years at Stanford. Plus, that's not counting what the Niners potent offense will do to the suspect Colts defense. I expect a fairly solid thrashing of the visiting Indy squad by a pissed-off San Fran team looking to avenge a horrifically poor showing at Seattle the other day.
The addition of Richardson will be a help to them in time...but he won't be that big a deal this Sunday. Still, Indy's passing game is potent enough that he'll have room to roam. We'll see how well he does in pass protection.

Sunday Night
CHI @ PIT
In years past this would have been a game to look forward to....epic defensive battle between two smothering powerhouse clubs that do offense in the mud and as an afterthought to a defense that leaves opponents needing counseling.
Not so much now. Chicago is actually making Jay Cutler re-learn how to play QB, as he is being given time to read the defense and make progressions like a normal passer for a change. And Pit is edging closer and closer to the 'J E S T dumpster fire' category with every embarrassing loss. Chin up, Steelers fans...you can still point at laugh at Jacksonville.

Monday Night
OAK @ DEN
Oakland is still up and coming, while getting out from under the horrible salary cap hell that Zombie Al left them. They have some talent, and it looks like Pryor might be a not-bad QB.
Not that they have a snowball's chance in hell against Peyton and Co in Mile High. But still, they have a brighter future now than at any time in the last 5 or 6 seasons.

I loved Andy and the Don; I HATE Vick and Chip. That said, with the death of his kid, being stuck with a basic asshole team of bad character guys and no Jim Johnson, Andy REALLY needed a change of location, he wasn't going back to the title game again in Philly with that group.

Chiefs 24
Iggles 17

Vick throws 3 picks trying to force the ball to DeeShawn and wins the Jake early on.
Tamba Hali dominates the interior and Derrick Johnson cleans up the run game.

Iggles make it respectable at the end, but this is a Thursday night beesfest.
