Purging is at last at hand. Day of Doom is here. All that is evil, all their allies; your parents, your leaders, those who would call themselves your judges; those who have lied and corrupted the Earth, they shall all be cleansed. You, my children, are the water that will wash away all that has gone before. In your hand, you hold my light, the gleam in the eye of Set. This flame will burn away the darkness, burn you the way to paradise!

What do they do after the tent is set-up?  Sit and and squint at eachother, or maybe toss their female snowflakes down the hillside?

/sorry about that.  I'm a bad person.... and I feel bad.

FTA...The view at night is equally as spectacular as lights from the campers' tents tear through the darkness.

Fark that, when I go camping, I want to see stars, not some jackass with 5 LED lanterns in his camp.

Take the train from Frankfurt to Bonn - it runs right along the river.  Germans will camp on a 10ft sandbar that's 30 feet from the rail line.

I am curious as to how some of those campers are going to sleep with their tents pitched on the slope of the hill.

Wow.  You mean a "camp" can mean something other than isolating yourself/family in a forest somewhere away from urban society?  Who would have guessed that American connotations could be so self-centered?

15,000 people, "camping" in China. Anyone else see a single Port-A-Potty in any of those shots?

Yeah. Exactly.

meat0918: I was expecting this to be about Pennsic.

At least you can find a Port-A-Potty at Pennsic. Or Estrella. Or pretty much any other SCA camping event. I mean, damn, staring at that Chinese site is making my ass itch.

List of supplies for "Camp Exodus"

Every summer Camp Exodus recreates the Bible Experience by marching 600,000 campers on a "death" march through the Sinai Desert. (Campers will not actually enter the Holy Land, as this took 40 years in the Bible.)

Campers are required to bring the following supplies with them:

A SIGNED AND NOTARIZED WAIVER INDEMNIFYING CAMP EXODUS AND ALL OF ITS EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS, SHAREHOLDERS, ETC., FROM RESPONSIBILITY IN THE EVENT OF DEATH OR INJURY.

1 tunic (males and females)
1 robe (if girl, man or woman over 12)
1 dish rag to serve as head and neck covering
1 rope to serve as belt
1 handkerchief long enough to serve as head band
2 sandals (1 pair of spare sandals permitted)
3 one water bottle (1 litre)
1 wooden paddle for digging personal latrine
1 nanny goat (for milk)
1-2 kids (the goat kind)
1 sheep, white
1 bed roll
1 blanket (doubles as cloak)
1 flat rock to serve as pillow
1 shekel of gold (to pay arts and crafts fees)
1 knife
1 spoon
(forks are not allowed because they are anachronistic)
1 bowl (metal, stone or pottery) Should be easy to wash as it is for all food and beverage items

Helicopters are not permitted at Camp Exodus because of the dust problem.

Helicoptering parenting is permitted and even encouraged, however. The purpose of the camp is to reproduce the life of Israelites during the Exodus. Feel free to bring your Mom, Dad and no more than two grandmas. Also feel free to bring as many sisters, cousins and aunts as you like. The camp musical production will be the HMS Pinafore this year.
