That's not the way they see things.....it's all on Obama's shoulders.

I think that is too generous. He's not the "voice of reason" so much as someone has probably taken him out back to the woodshed and had a talking too.

The voice of the ever-so-slightly less delusional? The voice of the nearly imperceptibly less batshiat? The voice of the nominally more cogent? The voice of the pseudo-quasi-fufu rational?

Whichever way, I think this pretty-much covers it.

If by "voice of reason" you mean "being a total dick and riling up the base for a fight that he insists others fight for him, so that they eat shiat and he positions himself for the 2016 nomination" then yes. Yes he is.

I doubt it's even that.  He just wants to pin everything on Boehner.

You can be an asshole and be the Republican presidential candidate. Hell, it's a prerequisite. But you can't have no one like you. Ah, who am I kidding. Mitt Romney was an asshole that no one liked.

Romney also went up against the GOP scrubs for the nom. In an election with no incumbent, I would expect that charisma would matter more.

Nope. Fat and white is a good look (Newt). L.L. Bean catalog model is a good look (Mitt). Country Cowboy is a good look (Dubya, Rick Perry).

Cruz looks like he just floated ashore after two weeks after the search effort was called off. Not a good look.

The Democrats didn't get healthcare reform passed by threatening George W. Bush with a government shutdown if he didn't give into their demands. Only Republicans attempt this anti-constitutional approach to passing legislation. It didn't work for them in the 90's, and it sure as f*ck won't work for them now, which is so obvious that even a @sshole like Ted Cruz is publicly admitting it.

Popeye up there is also a bad look. Sometimes candidates will be chosen for their seniority. Like the lifetime achievement awards at the Oscars and VMAs.

I don't think the strings are very strong.  It's like the Mob and the Joker now, from The Dark Knight.

I think most of them have gone off the reservation and are wearing out their welcome. Obama giving a speech today where he called on CEOs to start making phone calls backs this assertion.

Point of order: The original Tea Party was an attack upon Corporate property. The equivalent of two or three shooting rampages in Bentonville, AK.

I think history will look at the post-Bush years as a leadership vacuum in the GOP where various interest groups fractured. The only thing that really defines all Republicans these days is "anti-Democratic." You can win some elections that way, but you can't govern coherently.

The GOP's Faustian deal is turning sour on them?
Gee, you don't say. Surprise, surprise.

I swear, it's like these people never paid attention in history class, read a book, or even farking watched a Saturday morning cartoon.

When you sell your soul to maintain relevance and power, you pay for it in the end. The party no longer has any consistent platform other than to oppose Obama for having the temerity to exist.

You pin all your hopes and dreams to one goal, and if it escapes your grasp then you'll be left with nothing. And the stark realization of that threat will lead you to act like madmen who will do any depraved thing to win.

It's a sick, perverted mindset. And they should all be ashamed of having fallen to it.
