Netflix being interested wasn't the most surprising part of this article.... to me, it is that "WGN America" is wanting to actually become more than just "WGN Chicago with comedy/drama reruns when very Chicago-centric programming is on".

Found an article outlining two shows they already have in the hopper:   http://www.deadline.com/2013/09/wgn-america-orders-drama-series-about - the-manhattan-project-from-skydance-tv-tribune-studios-lionsgate-tv/  (one about the Manhatten Project, the other focused around the Salem Witch Trials).

Well, WGN is basically doing what TBS did, just 20 years later.  I remember when TBS was the Atlanta Superstation and showed tons of reruns and Braves games (not to mention starting all of their shows at :05 or :35).  It's kind of surprising they haven't tried it sooner.

If Netflix wants to hire both Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, they are required to make new Mr. Show episodes.

I remember WGN being the station that Bozo the clown came on when I was a kid and TBS being that one station that ran Looney Toons marathons or I think those were the channels.

It's okay that Netflix lost the Saul spinoff, because I'd rather have the next season of "House of Cards" posted already as well as have filming start on "Orange is the New Black". Pennsyltucky was absolutely farked up at the end of the season and I want to see what happens next.

Actually, now that I think about it, I don't know which I liked more as an episode, Breaking Bad's "Ozymanius or "Orange's" last episode, which was just as crazy.

Netflix may have missed out on this opportunity, but one thing's for sure, they'll be able to use that money to finish leasing out the rest of Asylum's riveting library of movies.

Take a look at this tasty commercial...

Pretty cool huh?

Also, 'Breaking Bad' should have been on netflix or HBO or something like that from the beginning. It would be so much more realistic with profanity and nudity. Nude scenes of Skyler and Jane would have put the ratings even higher into the stratosphere.

/ Bring on the next season of everything!
// 'The Venture Brothers' first please.

In all seriousness, I doubt if Netflix ever really had a chance. I think they were just brought into the picture as a bargaining chip to get AMC to come around to what the creators wanted.

I disagree, it's forced the writers to write a more nuanced and deeper show. An occasional F bomb is warranted and the occasional tit is well placed but when you always have that to fall back on you get lazy as a writer. Besides, watch the BB media releases, totally uncensored including some sweet as titties when Jesse goes to party at the strip club with Walt's RV money.

skinink: filming start on "Orange is the New Black". Pennsyltucky was absolutely farked up at the end of the season and I want to see what happens next.

Principal filming has been on going for at least a month or two now and tentative release date is mid or early 2014. One of the awesome things that directors and producers are loving about the new digital format is the ability to just work straight through knowing they can get it out as soon as they are done instead of trying to schedule around seasonal TV ratings times.

And hey, remember what new fish wanted to get Pennsyltucky to try and smooth things out?........new teeth. Looks like she has them coming.

Yeah, just trolling. They are actually doing a show together in Chicago Friday night.

Somebody needs to find a room like that safe house... and find a skinnier guy who kind of looks like Huell and record an ending with him asking, "is that guy ever coming back?"

Harder to do when the production companies keep thinking that they can get into the game themselves and pulling their entire libraries to splinter off to their own service... Not realizing that the reason Netflix and company work is the aggregation of all the libraries...

That and for Canada, all the TV channels own the streaming rights to the big shows that air and won't give them up of course.

I wonder how Warner Archive Instant is doing. They have a lot of old movies I'd watch as part of a movie service, but not as a separate service that charges more than Netflix.

What I'd really like to see is membership levels for different kinds of content. Like $5 more a month to get Criterion added, $3 more for Warner Archive, $3 for BBC, etc. That's more enticing to me than the original content.

/That said, I really do like Orange is the New Black

Mr. Show is my favorite sketch show ever. I loved how they strung each sketch together. You can find a lot of the skits on YouTube now as well.

Really?

My thoughts:

* I can't wait for the next season of House of Cards or the next episode of Breaking Bad.
* Orange is the New Black was very good (note, I said very good, which I don't say often about a TV show), but I don't think it touches either BrBa or House of Cards.
* I'm not holding out much hope for either HoC or OitNB - I expect neither will live up to their first season.
* The Saul Goodman spinoff?  Yeah, I'll watch it.  It's going to be a comedy, right?  I don't know I haven't heard much about it, but I won't be expecting Cranston/Paul intensity.  I always viewed Saul as comic relief for Breaking Bad (as well as most of Badger and Skinny Pete's scenes);
*  House of Cards was the first show I ever finished watching that I turned around and watched it again.  Granted, I usually have not been able to do that, but I did not do that for Orange.
* I'm not holding out too much hope for Saul Goodman's spinoff either.

Bob was in an interview recently and said that it was pitched as a possible straight black comedy with all the horrible stuff Saul deals with and his and associates making light of the situation.

If they can mirror the masterful moment that was the Huell Reasonably scene I think they have a winner for at least a season or two
