He accidentally shot himself? MULTIPLE times?

Anyone want to hazard a guess before the police report comes out?

Responsible gun owners. Bah Gawd, King, that man had a family!

I think I'm going with some old school Ketttle Cooked popcorn for todays gun derp thread. That microwave stuff just doesn't have the same panache.

If only there was someone at the shooting range that could've prevented this.

If you think about it, this is one more case where a privately owned gun was used to stop the perpetrator.

He might even have prevented a mass shooting!  This should have gotten the "Hero" tag!

There was. Unfortunately, he shot himself.

Is this like the Enron guy that shot himself in the back of the head?

His name is in the headline.  Am I supposed to know who he is?

It's just another gun death. No details matter.

Directionless so plain to see,
A loaded gun won't set you free.
So you say.

I'm going with walking down range and stray bullets or ricochet.

Gun owners like me are such badasses that we sometimes shoot ourselves.  Meanwhile, you're all like "oh noes, getting shot in the head is SO SCARY."

Babies.

There were no good guys with guns nearby?
I'm confused.

He was quite obviously a danger to himself, so he had a right to stand his ground and neutralize that threat.

My money is on the reefer and an issue of Tales from the Crypt from 1951.

Obviously it was an AR-15.

It was from a shotgun, and they are counting each entrance wound as a separate projectile?

When I read the headline, I didn't realize he shot HIMSELF multiple times accidentally.  I thought he either had a bummer of a birthmark or a head shaped like a clay disc.

I'm guessing you could pull off a few rounds from a semi auto with muscle spasms.

Full-auto runaway with a cheap pistol. Happens with Tec-9s all the freakin' time.

Exactly what I was thinking.  Stupid is as stupid does.

That must take some talent or some very unfortunate circumstances. It's more or less a handgun range (no centerfire or shotguns allowed). Was the sear broken while he was dumb enough to look inside the gun to see if it was loaded or jammed? That's about the only way I can see someone suffering multiple, accidental self-inflicted gun shot wounds, and that is not a very likely event at all.

I can understand his finger being too fat for the trigger and getting jammed - but how the hell did he reach around ALL THAT to the back of his head?

I think he was cleaning it and it accidentally went off. Multiple times. Into his head and neck. From behind. Back and to the left. Back and to the left. Back and to the left. Back and to the left.

We avoided getting headshot on the Marine Corps rifle range by not doing pullups when working target detail.

I'm gonna say it's not the guns fault, he was obviously crazy, so this is a Mental Health issue.

Who, but a crazy person, would shoot themselves in the head a few times?

See? Mental Health issue.

LEAVE GUNS ALONE /cry

2013-09-18 02:29:06 PM
Could have been the guy standing next to him had a jam or misfirefire. Had two in the pipe and turned the gun so the barrel was pointing left or right, maybe slightly elevated when they tried to clear the jam. Gun goes off, both rounds exit the barrel cleanly and the guy standing next to him just happened to be turning away from the source of the shots and catches the bullets in the back of the head.

When at a gun range you need to be aware of not only where your weapons are pointed, but where other people are pointing their weapons, because 90% of the human race is a farking retard.

What the hell is that?

2013-09-18 02:31:44 PM
Another possibility is that he  dropped the gun, before it lands he turns away from the gun and it goes off from the impact, twice, at such an angle that it hits him in the head and neck.

2013-09-18 02:31:57 PM
Responsible gun owners go to the range to learn to shoot responsibly.

A white woman defending her self from a black rapist at a gun range, duh.

that article is so short on details as to be damn near useless, details such as what gun he was using are badly needed.
