I don't care for sangria.

I'm indifferent to sangria.

Sangria is awesome, but not as awesome as mimosas.

2013-09-18 12:47:46 PM
I love sangria and mimosas. There, I said it.

2013-09-18 12:49:19 PM
I love sangria and would never be ashamed to admit it.

But to put that into context, I also am probably the only guy in the world that misses Bartles and James winecoolers.

I have a friend named Sangrita and she is cool, is that close enough.

Try Adam Corolla's Mangria

Poseurs.  I'm a white zinfandel drinker myself.  Or liebfraumilch- I'll never turn down liebfraumilch.

I was at a fancy restaurant and the woman at the table next to me ordered sangria. When she was told they didn't have it, she then ordered "the sweetest red wine you got" and and a fruit-plate.

It's always good on a hot summer day. Plus, it's a great way to use up bad wine.

2013-09-18 12:53:20 PM
I prefer scotch, myself.

I don't practice Sangria

2013-09-18 12:55:05 PM
sangria is ok... would rather have wine.

best summer drink is a margarita.  made with freshly squeezed lime, good tequila, and cointreau (not triple sec) over ice (not frozen). never use a mix, that's poison. no salt either. if the only margarita you've ever had was pre-made mix ice machine stuff, you've never had a margarita.

No.  No, you aren't.  Those things (aw, hell, I just remembered the watermelon/strawberry ones *drool*) were DAMN tasty.

/You had to pour them into an empty "Big Gulp" cup to keep from catching sh** at the football game though...

I remember the dark days here in Virginia when Sangria was illegal. What was it, like 60-70 years ago? Oh wait, just 5 years ago:
http://hamptonroads.com/2008/04/sangria-its-refreshing-now-its-legal

Advertising you have a "happy hour" still illegal here:
http://www.wtop.com/41/2821800/Vas-happy-hour-law-makes-some-unhappy

We're a wacky state.....and by "wacky" I mean backwards.

Alcohol laws still not as backwards as Pennsylvania's though. We have giant beer/wine sections in every grocery store. Even CVS sells wine. In PA they were making people blow into a tube at "wine kiosks" a couple years ago in the few grocery stores that would let you buy wine. "I don't like your breath mister! No wine for you!" Luckily they killed that program: http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/09/plcb_pulls_the_plu g _on_wine_ki.html

You're part of the problem.

/It's a farking drink, stop being so snooty about unimportant shiat.

Considering I despise most wine I've ever had (I can tolerate some whites, and dessert wines, and can "stomach" moscato), I think Sangria's are farking awful.

Sangria just tastes like hangover to me.  I don't like my booze to be too sweet.

I like to drink it in the park. It contributes to making it a perfect day.

You need to put more hard booze in it then and less fruit juice.

I prefer avec gria.

Sangria is nice. Especially if serious Tequila is not on the menu for Margaritas, on the rocks of course.

sangria is great for a really hot summer day, when you're outside and you want something light

Canton: I've never tried sangria, and I'm curious. What level migraine would I be tempting? (As a baseline, one glass of Riesling is a slight risk...)

Not knowing you personally, I'd suggest caution. There are a lot of variables at play, including the types of fruit used, and whether there's added sugar and/or brandy.

I enjoy a glass about once a year, when it's around a thousand degrees outside. It's a context-based drink to me- if you're not having it at the right time, it loses a lot of its character.

Yup, and if a light white is putting you into headache territory, it's likely best to avoid it. Unless you're masochistic, then have three or four mugs.

Blasphemy.  Otherwise spot-on, premix is just lazy.

CSB: When my wife and I were on our honeymoon on the Costa Del Sol, the resort we stayed in had a free pitcher of sangria as one of the perks.  So on a sunny morning at around 11am we decided to take them up on it.  If you don't know already, they don't make sangria in Spain like they do in North FL where we're from.  It must have had 5 or 6 different kinds of liquor in it.  It took us 20 min. to crawl back to our room and we both passed out while laughing.  We woke hours later with the biggest headaches of our lives.  So be careful when ordering sangria in Southern Spain.
