She's just using that as an excuse to grab his wedding tackle.

AHHAAHAHAHAA, someone almost died, that's hilarious!  They'll spray her down with mace next, but for some strange reason, they do not club, bayonet, or shoot the recruits.

I don't get the double standard.

If she were black they would've accidentally drawn their pistol instead.

What double standard are you smoking?\

Taser training is so that people know what will happen, how the bodies react, how the people react, etc.. Mace is so that they will know what to expect and be able to shake off the effects(Or find out that they are super allergic to pepper spray and leave the program). It's pretty much known what happens when you shoot or stab people, and most people have been hit on the head at some point in their childhood, so clubs aren't really something new.

Except that we've seen cops tase people, order them to stand up and walk, and then tase them again when they didn't stand fast enough (see, e.g. the USC library kid). Similarly, we've seen videos of cops kneeling on someone's throat, suffocating them, while telling them not to struggle and then beating them when they inevitably did. The training - being shot in the back with a taser, with full warning, and two people holding you up - is clearly not representative of what happens, and is obviously inadequate to educate them.

Except that you see in real life what the body goes through, and if you're the tased person, you fell IN REAL LIFE what happens. It doesn't mean that cops don't abuse their power, but that isn't even remotely what I was talking about.

Yet another glaring case of rampant bayonetism in the Army.

I'm confused. Neither of your posts appear earlier, only the response thread (above). Fark must have wizards.

US military? Statistically, she would have been sexually assaulted at least 4 times that day. The taser probably wasn't so bad.

I would like to point out that this kind of training is common in military training (like this video) and less common in law enforcement. There are many cops who've never had the experience of being shot with a taser or hit with spray, even in controlled environments like this.

So you're both right. This kind of training is very valuable for those who are expected to employ less-lethal weapons. However, many cops are under-trained on these tools, because police departments don't take them as seriously as guns because they're 'non-lethal' (pro-tip: they aren't). So you see far too many incidents of misuse of the less-lethal tools.

A: That whole "non-lethal" bullshiat has ALWAYS pissed me off...

B: My BIL is a corrections officer in Az and has had to go through training for both getting tased AND getting pepper sprayed, so I guess there is one thing that Sheriff Joe is doing right. Blind squirrel and all that...
