I'd like to make a motion to go with Choke-Rod over A-Choke.

Why would A-Roid care?  Isn't his appeal scheduled before the playoffs begin?

Not that it looks like the Yankees are getting that far....

They still have a shot at the wild card, mathematically.

Also, the Sox didn't do shiat - a year full of injuries to three quarters of their roster and most of their stars is what eliminated the Yankees.

As much as I hate ARod, you cannot describe anything this season as a choke. To say he choked, you are saying they would have been better off without him, which is demonstrably false

While injuries have indeed plagued the team, the Sox are a legit team this year.  That is a scary lineup, like you used to see from the Yankees for most of the 00's.

I don't care about baseball at all, but at least when the Rangers fans here called him "A-Fraud" it was a little more clever because it rhymed.

The Red Sox beat the Yankees thirteen times this season. I'd say that has more than a little to do with their current postseason outlook.

I was mostly kidding around and busting idesofmarch's chops a bit with my post. Yes, the Yankees have had quite a few injuries. But so have the Red Sox. Their best pitcher this year was injured for over three months. Their original closer, Bailey, was lost for the season due to shoulder surgery. Another potential closer, Hanrahan, out for the season with Tommy John surgery. Andrew Miller, another from the bullpen who started the season really well was lost to thumb surgery. That's quite a bit of pitching to lose.

Yankees fans dont have to develop insults of their own. They just purchase them from Pirates and Mariners fans at double the market value and keep using them until the vowels fall off.

Lost Thought 00: As much as I hate ARod, you cannot describe anything this season as a choke. To say he choked, you are saying they would have been better off without him, which is demonstrably false

So far, his batting line is .275/.375/.466.  About 25 teams would be happy if their 3B choked that badly.  But oh no, he went 0-for-4.

The Yankees have many reasons to be mad at A-Rod, but his on-field performance in 2013 isn't one of them.

Cagey B: The Red Sox beat the Yankees thirteen times this season. I'd say that has more than a little to do with their current postseason outlook.

The Red Sox would be overwhelming favorites in that matchup, but I'd admit hoping for the Maximum Trolling of A-Rod hitting a walk-off grand slam to end the series.

I wasn't saying they don't have a good team - they do, and that's why they're in first against a very competitive AL East (meaning the Rays and Orioles) - but the Yankees are where they are because of the injuries and little else.  It's not like they have a beer and fried chicken situation, or a poor management situation.  Even the pitching has been adequate.  But look at the injuries: no Teixeira at all this year, barely any of Jeter, more than half the season missed for Granderson and A-Rod (like A-Rod or not, he does produce in the regular season).  And then there's all the lesser but still important injuries - Hafner, Youkilis, Cervelli - you get what I'm saying.

If the Yankees had been generally healthy all year, that's no guarantee they'd be winning the division over the Red Sox, but I'd put money on them being better than fourth place, and probably a couple games away from clinching a Wild Card right now.

That style of nickname needs to be banned.

There should be a committee of Negro League players tasked with nicknaming rookies when they get called up to MLB.  Everyone in that league had 5-10 nicknames that were better than "A-Rod".

Until your other post I actually didn't realize you were being funny, so I'm glad you clarified that.  Red Sox have had injuries too, but I think the Yankees' situation this year falls a *wee* bit outside the norm.

This has to be (other than his year with the Marlins), Girardi's best job as a manager.  He kept a team that had no offense whatsoever until July(?) in the playoff hunt until September.

Can you be more specific?  They were totally in it going into last Friday - fresh off taking 3/4 against the Orioles, one game behind the Rays.  Then they get swept by the Red Sox, and that was sort of the last nail in the coffin, considering they looked DOA against Toronto last night.

So they lost to a knuckleballer. It hurts, but most teams, if not all of them, would lose to a knuckleballer.

They have a 3 game set against the Rays, and don't face a knuckleballer again this season that I'm aware of. They have to win at least 2, or more likely, sweep, to get into the post season.

There's still time left.

I've legit tried to read his posts without getting annoyed or wondering WTF he's talking about. It's impossible. Baseball, football, soccer, whatever the sport is. Doesn't matter.

Maybe I'm being touchy this season because Rivera is retiring, but I feel much better now that I don't have to read his bullshiat ever again. Ignoring someone is something I try to avoid, but I've simply run out of patience.
