(Kansas City)   It's 2013 and still there are parents convinced that their children will suffer irreversible harm if they see a bare-breasted statue in the park. "We have a solid case on the harms to minors"   (kansascity.com) divider line 143

So, all these children were bottle fed?

It wasn't that long ago that an Attorney General of the United States believed the same thing.

The statue of David is harmful. Its intimidating that there are men out there packing that large of equipment!

Meh. I think it was cold when the model posed.

Naked breasts turn boys gay.
Study it out.

No pic of the offensive statue in the article about the statue?

How am I to make an objective decision on whether it is truly obscene and capable of causing children to become morally bankrupt.

"And I'll pull out my gun and shoot anyone who gets in my way of taking it down!"

Even worse the law that allows them to challenge this was apparently designed to help them try to do an end-run around legalized abortion as well.  Why the hell does anyone want to live in a place like that.

Picture of the offending statue.  As it contains unblurred perky nipples it may be considered NSFW.

I wouldn't consider it offensive, but I don't really like it as a piece of art

Have to agree... my first thought it "Headless naked attention whore taking a selfie".

So the fact that she doesn't have a head doesn't bother any one but the fact that she has nipples is offensive. K.

Looks like "Dexter Interrupted".

Maybe that could be a thing like planking etc.  Get pretty young women to emulate that pose and costume while standing next to the statue.

When I was in school, a bare breast once followed me to the bathroom and stole my lunch money.

2013-09-17 11:25:23 PM
This is why we can't have nice things.

Community mores determine which bills get passed. If you want more bare breasted statues in your city, get more bare breasted statue lovers to move there. They won't, of course, because they prefer to isolate themselves from people with fundamentally different viewpoints.

When someone mentions an assault on a bare-breasted statue, I imagine some homeless pervert with a fetish for marble and bronze.

huh....actually the arboretum is quite nice. I don't recall ever seeing that particular statue though.

I saw a statue like that when I was 10.

Three days later I was sucking dick for coke and knocking over liquor stores for cigarettes.

2013-09-17 11:30:08 PM
Hey buddy, in case you missed it: you're living in Johnson County.

2013-09-17 11:30:19 PM
OMG they're just breasts, you prudish coonts.  Everyone has them.  Animals have them too, they're just called teats or udders.  I doubt a sculpture of a cow, replete with udders, would garner such ire, so stop acting like little Johnny will become a serial killer if he sees a tit.

2013-09-17 11:30:51 PM
Dear social conservatives: please kill yourself.  You are causing harm.

2013-09-17 11:31:46 PM
So we got indecent exposure vs full on rape of the concept of separation of powers and prosecutor discretion.  You know, discretion of prosecutors, or people who have actually went to school and know the law as opposed to a bunch of mouth breathers who are so unemployed as to be able to collect enough signatures from other mouth breathers to convene a grand jury?

I don't like prosecutors as a rule but I'd prefer them to the septic mix of puritan wankers and anti-abortion nutjobs pushing this law.

That's nothing in my city we have a huge cast iron stature on a 100 foot towel looking over the city.

I agree. Not liking it as art that much.... However as long as people are offended lets weld a penis on it and make sure very one is totally appalled and mentally raped.

Kind of a dumb looking statue but unless a kid whacks his or her head on that sharp nipple I'm not sure how 'harm' can be done.

2013-09-17 11:38:50 PM
I'd like to see what testimony these "experts" will give that makes a solid case for harm to children. I really can't conceive what it would be.

2013-09-17 11:39:03 PM
How do these people even procreate? I imagine in total darkness and only for the purpose of making children.

Apparently my kids and I would be a poor fit in Kansas. Pity. Because I like their bbq.

So much for the saying:

"Make love, not war...
Nobody ever got killed by a tit."

Apparently these walking poster children for cranial rectosis ads have some sort of 'sciency' proof
that a breast (tit, knocker, funbag, hooter, honker, boob, bazinga, bazonga, teet, melon, whatever)
will cause irreparable harm to the pwecious widdle childwen.

Actually, yes. Find a picture of the statue from 3/4 above, look at his face.

He's scared shiatless and his junk is tucking up inside his body.

2013-09-17 11:45:39 PM
Big freaking deal.  If this statue causes some boys to grow up into sexual deviants who like to sexually assault women who do not have a head or the lower half of their abdomen and have been sliced into pieces and are made of bronze, well, I am OK with that.  No really, I am OK with that.

*sigh*, chaps are, by definition, ass less.

You're supposed to wear pants under them, the chaps just protect you from axe slice and chainsaw kickback.
