Nah, subby, it can _always_ be worse: being busted for DUI and being found naked from the waist down while waiting for someone else's child outside an elementary school, and you happen to be head of the school board, and the cops find 300 pounds of crystal meth in the truck, hidden under your (er, "the") dildo collection.

During her first-appearance court hearing on Tuesday, Broward County Judge John "Jay" Hurley ordered that Llauro be released from jail without having to post a bond.

She was obviously impaired and refused a breath test? And this county yee-haw judge let her off?

Nice "justice" system you got down there..

A functioning alcoholic would be safer driving with alcohol in her system than without.

Now, that doesn't excuse her for being an alcoholic. It's a disease and she needs treatment.

But at least she's there for her child, unlike many families who work late and leave children to their own devices with no one to raise them.

MooseUpNorth: Nah, subby, it can _always_ be worse: being busted for DUI and being found naked from the waist down while waiting for someone else's child outside an elementary school, and you happen to be head of the school board, and the cops find 300 pounds of crystal meth in the truck, hidden under your (er, "the") dildo collection.

And they find you by following the trail of dead pedestrians to the smoking ruins of what used to be that elementary, which is right next to a secret CDC laboratory containing the now-released to the infected survivors smallpox-B supervirus.

Yes, it could get worse...imagine that you are the school bus driver...

That sounds...awfully specific.

Anything you'd like to share with the class?

I propose that 300 yards from the company parking lot at 7:00 am AFTER just getting off from your nightshift and all of the morning shift people seeing you get put into the back of a patrol car is worse.

I know a woman who is in prison right now because she swerved off the road and took out a utility box. She was on probation for dealing meth. It was her fourth DUI and her license had already been revoked. It was shortly after 8am and she blew a .10. She had just dropped two of her three kids off at school.

In Texas, it is must worse if you get busted AFTER the kid gets in the car.  Your first DWI is normally a Class B Misdemeanor but if you have a child passenger it is an automatic felony.

If being a dumbass is considered a "disease" we need to quarantine the Tea Party brigade before they infect the whole goddamned GOP. . .oh wait, nevermind.

Sure beats the mom who flipped her suv after picking up the kids and had not one child in safety restraints and that includes a baby without a proper carrier a few years back in Flint.  The baby didn't survive.

/by chance it was the same time State and city police were having a campaign against drivers for not using seat belts and child safety seats in their cars.
//the same news crew who went out to do a story on the child safety seat check point, got the footage of the wrecked vehicle.

The last car accident I'd been involved in was caused by a mom driving her little kid to school while high or drunk.  She had turned left on a green light, not a green arrow, and her truck was broadsided by a car who had the green light.  The two vehicles skidded across the intersection and hit the car next to me and my car too.  The only person to go away in an ambulance was the kid, because of course, she wasn't buckled in.  I didn't hear about her DUI until my insurance adjuster told me.

I don't know what happened to her, but I hope it made her think about what she did.

To be fair, the cop could be full of shiat. The woman could have been having a mini-stroke or seizure.

The smell of alcohol doesn't mean she was drunk. That smell might not have been there at all. I mean it is most likely that she did have a few drinks, but I'm just saying maybe she should get her head looked at.
