It's really weird seeing the Seahawks at #1 and then coming in here and seeing everyone saying, "Well yeah. Seems about right."

I feel like I need to lay down or something.

redmid17: Not that many people know about Drew Stanton, but for everyone's edification: Drew Stanton will *never* be "the guy."

i couldn't say, as I don't think i saw any Colts games last year and beyond that, i don't think i've ever seen him do anything on the field.  he came here fairly hyped up as an "Arians guy", whatever that may mean, with the usual caveats about "accuracy", and "adjusting at this level", and "in the right scheme", all the garbage people say about any unknown quantity.  dunno.  but arians did say he was the guy, and then in a thin FA market, we grabbed Palmer.   it is what it is.

or, in the immortal words of that former Cardinal who went to Tampa Bay and then had the gall to criticize Pat Tillman *after* he died:

it is what it is
but sometimes
it is what it isn't
but we are who are
and we know what

we want to be.

(he really said that.  it is a clip on NFL Films.  bob dylan couldn't write that shiat.  that is some poetry right there.)

Pats beat two bottom dwellers. Not sure why they are ranked so high when they have have such a depleted offense. Maybe when Gronk comes back but I don't see them beating the Falcons.

Your answers for week 2:

Heroes:
1. Sam Bradford has yet to be sacked. Hopefully that will change this weekend.
2. Cards CB Patrick Peterson put in a reception, a pass, and 4 tackles this week.
3. Matt Forte hauled in 11 passes this week, for 71 yards.
4. Mario Williams had 4.5 sacks this week in what was arguably the least talked-about 4.5 sack game ver.
5. Dan Bailey tried to overcome the Cowboys offensive woes with 2 50+ FGs, but they fell to the Chiefs.

Zeroes:
1. The Redskins have allowed 511.5 YPG so far this season. Ouch.
2. The New York Giants have totaled a paltry 73 yards this season, meaning that Adrian Peterson has so far outrun them on one play.
3. JAWSH FREEMAN has derped his way to a pathetic 45.3% completion rating and still almost beat the Saints.
4. Bullock out of Houston missed 4 FGs so far, making that Titans game far more interesting than it needed to be.
5. The Steelers have run the fewest plays from scrimmage (108) but that will happen when you're terribad.

Shoppin:
1. A-aron RodGeers.
2. Tom 52% completion rating Brady
3. Andrew "Gritty Comeback Loss" Luck
i.imgur.com
4: Sandler wears 18 in The Longest Yard, not 22 like Burt Reynolds wore.
5. Shane "footsteps" Falco wore #16 before going back to cleaning barnacles off boats.
6. Bobby Boucher wears #9, presumably because the mud dugs don't have enough jerseys for defensive player numbers.

Nope.  sorry.  Kaeppy was supposed to do much, much better than Eli was, because they're the defending NFC champs.  And SNF>"national" game on CBS.

skrame: But a top 3 team should be able to put up more than a field goal against anybody

Given the safety, their offense basically earned one point.

skrame: (Oh, you have to look at the drives and not just total score? Punt, interception, punt, punt, safety, fumble, punt, field goal (YAY!), interception, downs, interception. That's freaking horrible.)

Yeah, when you're playing the best defense in the league on the road, it's hard to score. Same reason it was hard for Seattle to score in Carolina (except obviously Carolina isn't quite as good as Seattle on D).

It's not like it's something where you can say "the Seahawks have shown the league the blueprint" or some other stupid cliche like that. The Seahawks have the exact kind of team that works perfectly against the 49ers - no one else has that personnel. The thing that sucks is when we get those shifty fast li'l WRs - we're not nearly as good at covering them.

Anyway, that game was nice, but it'll be much more fun when we get our starting CB, our top two pass rushers from last year, and probably our most talented offensive player back.

Did people forget that the fumble was a tiebreaker, since that was the rarer feat (and Jake had 5 INT/1 FUM)? Or did I make up that that was a tiebreaker?

Saints  - YPG: 11th, PPG: 6th
Pats - YPG: 8th, PPG: 6th

They really think there are 8 teams worse than the Redskins? No way.

When you see the atrocious defensive numbers, just remember that they could have been way worse had the Iggles and Pack kept trying in the second half. Same goes for the offense, all of the scoring happened when their opponents went into the prevent for the last 30 minutes. So far we've been outscored 50-7 in the first half, and that 7 came on a fluke deflection/fumble for a TD.

Ryan Kerrigan is the only guy who shouldn't be ashamed of his performance thus far.

Palmer's pick six was miscommunication;  the TE was running to the right, but he thought the play was to sit in space so he stopped, but palmer tracked him still going right.......right into the arms of the defense, as if palmer meant to throw it to him. ugly, cost us 6 points, but the kind of thing that can be fixed.

palmer also threw probably two sure TDs juuuuuuuuuuuuuust out of reach.  i know every game and every player has acouple of plays here that would change games, but we left two TDs on the field.  ehhh.  it happens.

but hey, in fairness to DET, they missed a relatively easy FG twice.  we ran into the kicker on about a 38 yarder, they missed wide left, but on the penalty (5yd penalty) dude doinked it right.  DOINK! so both teams left points on the field.
