Why can't the US make coins like that?  People would buy them up and the government would make a ton of money.

Kinda cool that the lettering around the edge is in Kryptonian runes.

From the diary of Captain Kanuck:

Dear diary,

It's just one of those days, eh? I risk my life time and again to protect my beloved homeland, and who do they make commemorative coins for? That big blue hoser from Metropolis!

I mean, golly! If I was the one to take on those super space men, I'd at least apologise for knocking down half the blooming city! Better yet, I'd stick around and help them search for survivors and rebuild the city!

Not just fly off all willy nilly and to go kiss some floozy who batted her eyelashes at me!

People dying left and right, and not one single apology or how do you do, from big blue spandex boy.

I tell you mister diary, there's just no justice some days, eh?

So the coins are hand painted... that's pretty impressive.

Did you make that up?  Because if so, damn that was funny!  (And if not, thanks for reposting.  it was a hoot)

How I wish they made circulation coins like this .. but no, all for collectors

Still, Kryptonian glyphs on coinage ... your move, Marvel

And like many things in the US, the iconic Superman is a Canadian invention.

That's right. I said it.

Honestly... An "Alpha Flight" coin set would be waaaaay more awesome.  Not Canadian-made, and oh yes, Marvel hustled every stereotype in the book with them, but still awesome.

I still think it's funny that a Canadian gov't "secret bio weapons program" was supposedly the origin of Wolverine and Sabertooth.  We can't even buy new navy helicopters without stuffing our heads up our asses for over a decade.  I doubt we have a "secret bio weapons program".  But hey, comic books.

It gets even funnier when you consider that according to the timeline the Weapon X program happened under John "Cancel the Avro Arrow" Diefenbaker.

Apparently he wasn't the only PM with detailed knowledge of the program :D
