Sweet. That voice was fapping inspiration in the 90's for me

Sure, if it's the 90s again. Do you have some Happy Mondays and The Sundays CDs while you're at it?

:-)

Hope Sandoval rules. Thanks, subs.

And, yes, that descending melody does seem to echo Smokey Robinson's "Tracks of My Tears."

I noticed the other night when they played a slowed down version of The Colbert Report theme at the end that it sounded remarkably similar to "O Come All Ye Faithful".

I'll take those. Along with new Ned's and the Poppies.  And the Stuffies. Keep Mozzer's new stuff, though.

/read way too much Select magazine in the 90s

Many Thanks . Oddly enough- I missed the band when they were popular. It took a video game commercial last year to remind me how damn good they were, and I and I regretted not seeing them . We shall see them if it can be done for this album. I like it.

2013-09-17 06:19:44 AM
it's pretty good, but doesn't quite have the highlights of their other albums. I also miss the noisier psychedelic guitar work.

I would be way more excited for a new Sundays album.

Great to hear the new album (halfway thru it now)...but do the guitar tracks seem a little rough and "demo quality" to anyone else?

not sure about the NPR stream as the album leaked a few days ago, but it sounds fine to me.

They've been whoring "fall into you" quite a bit.

Heard it in a movie the other day.

I don't know what a Mazzy Starr is, but why don't they just post their pictures on flickr?

Saw them open for Jesus & Mary Chain many moons ago.
Hope is ethereal on stage.

Hell yes. The Sundays are one of the all time unsung great bands...so few albums :-(

My ears have the weirdest boner right now.

I will have to dig my old CD up.

No.

I didnt want to listen to the first one.

Sounds like every other Mazzy Star album, which isn't a bad thing.  I don't mind a one trick pony, as long as it's a good trick.

Yes, it's true.   Other bands do have females in them, some even singers.

Nope! Should be good though. Drink a lot of coffee first.

I have. They have this really elaborate stage show with tons of pyro and choreography.

Oh HELL yes. Fell in love with them in high school, when "Fade Into You" was on constant rotation on MTV (remember when they played music HAR HAR)

First song I taught myself to play completely by ear on guitar. That's not much of an accomplishment of course, it's probably the simplest song ever written. But I could sit and play it for what seemed like hours without getting bored (and no drugs were involved in that either).

2013-09-17 10:46:48 PM
Well, that wasn't much of anything.

barefoot in the head: Well, that wasn't much of anything.

I like the album, but yeah, I'm not getting the excitement either. It's enjoyable to relax to, but it doesn't have anything close to the highlights of their first 2 albums.
