Blue whale ear wax plug rings thicknesses vary with temperature, and show without question global warming.

Blue whale ear wax?

fark, don't tell the Chinese.

They'll invent a soup made out of it.

Then the ear wax will end up worth $100,000 a gram and they'll hunt down all the whales and kill them for their ear wax.

And penises too cos they also like to eat those. But mainly the ear wax.

Another one of those glamorous scientist jobs they don't tell you about when your a kid. No, it's all astronauts and acid-base reactions. It's all a big bait-and-switch operation if you ask me.

Imagine having ear wax that takes up that much space in your ear your entire life!
But I guess it might come in handy at deep dives, which could mean that the older ones are better able to dive deeper.

/But they also get barnacles, which sounds uncomfortable.

Staring at that image, I can't help but wonder if the wax doesn't actually hurt them and that having their aural canals filled up might help with transmission.  It's the only thing that makes sense, as otherwise they'd have developed some way of clearing those channels.
