Without RTFA, I'm guessing it's because they're both shows with low expenses/overhead that have made buttloads of money and they want to keep that gravy train coming.

Dear AMC.

You're a basic cable network that hit the lottery with Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. That doesn't mean that everything you touch is going to turn into NBC's Must See TV from the 1990s. Even if that little twit makes an after party talk show out of it.

I gave up on The Killing after two episodes into the second season. Like a series of dates with a hot woman that you realize isn't ever going to put out and just leave you with blue balls, date after date after date.

Spin off from the Walking Dead? At the rate they are going they wont have enough people to finish the next season!

On a slight sidenote, I just finished the first season of Hell on Wheels. It was better than I expected.

I'll give "Better Call Saul" a spin, out of reverence for "Mr. Show". I'm going to avoid any other spinoff so they don't ruin my love of the originals.

I watched about half of the first season and stopped because, like, NOTHING was happening.

The way Breaking Bad is wrapping up, "Better Call Saul" is going to feel inappropriately humorous. At least for people who don't hang out here, anyway.

I submitted this and I've resolved to quit submitting their pages too. But Eric Deggans is pretty cool and he's moving to NPR pretty soon anyway, and this is on my mind so there you go.

No more Tampabay.com from me though.

Low Winter Sun feels like AMC mixed up a bunch of successful shows to get this slow and boring one.

I gave up after the season 1 finale when they revealed that they HADN'T caught the killer, after all. Immediately turned my Tivo to the season passes section and deleted the entry for the show.

Same here. We stopped right around episode 5, I think. We WANTED to like it, but it was just too damned boring.

Just tell me that AMC looked at LWS and have already decided not to renew while signing James onto being the lead for TWD spinoff.

AMC should restart Stargate Universe. Colonel Young totally got a raw deal on Breaking Bad. Shot in the back of the head as the punchline to a joke.

AMC owes Colonel Young.

Oh, oh, oh ...Walking Dead thread!!

Has anyone talked about how much of a batch Lori is? How much the farm sucked or even though they hate the how they still watch it just so they can biatch about it on the Internet? Because that's awesome.

Yeah, how many ruthless, corrupt but yet still honorable cop shows are/were there? The Shield and Luther come to mind just otomh.

I like Mark Strong, he's a good actor. Hopefully the writers can do something to improve that show. If "Heroes" can go from one of the best shows of the season to just end it already, maybe "Low Winter Sun" can pull the reverse and become a good series.

We stopped watching BN 2 years ago when Michael got back into the Agency and his partner was murdered. At that point he'd been out of the game 5 years and he should have been unemployable as a spy.

Another story set in the Walking Dead universe doesn't surprise me at all.  It's a big world and there are certainly other survivors out there.  The gang we see only covers a relatively small area around Georgia.

The only real problem that I could see is that there is a lot of danger of overlapping stories.  You'd need a much different group of survivors to start with.or it would be a complete retread.

Hell on Wheels got a lot better at the end of season 1, and season 2 was balls out awesome.  Still on the fence about season 3, but it's far more interesting than season 1.

I can honestly say that "plausibility" was never at the top of my list of reasons for watching Burn Notice.

That show was always a guilty pleasure. And just yesterday I accidentally discovered an old show on Netflix called The Good Guys that was also created by Matt Nix. Yes, I realize I'm probably the last person to know about this show, and the humor isn't exactly subtle, but it looks like fun.

It's hard to watch that show because the actors all have a great screen presence but the show is using so much recycled material that no matter how good they are you can just run your finger down a checklist to find what's going to happen next.

I could see a spinoff, but, if its just in bfe Georgia- meh. I'd like to see other groups in other places. Like Marthas vineyard, islands in the Puget sound, bfe midwest, hawaii, Ireland, etc .

"Mark Strong, the talented British actor playing stoic, principled Detroit homicide Det. Frank Agnew, faces the camera looking seriously depressed. He walks into a scene with another talented British actor, Lennie James.."

There's your problem right there. Americans don't get British humour.

dryknife: Americans don't get British humour.

Yeah, those Monty Python guys never went anywhere . Neither did Ricky Gervais , Simon Pegg ....
Most tv execs dont get it, thats true, so they bastardise shows and use "insert regional thing here " plots and writing. See Shameless for a recent example.

It's like they sat the writers down and had them watch about five years worth of English and Scandinavian cop/detective dramas, and then said "Do this, but make it as dull as possible."

And Begbie from Trainspotting. Those two actors are AMC quality. Stargate Universe was high drama.

Hmmmm.....  I consider The Walking Dead as one of those shows I watch while I surf the internet cuz it's not entertaining enough to keep my attention fully.  And they're spinning off another show from it?

The Other Walking Dead?

The Shuffling Almost Dead?

The Nearly Dead Snarly Guys?

Buffy the Zombie Slayer?

The People Who Fall to Squishy Pieces When You Shoot Them in the Head?

Black Body Fluid Extravaganza?

Spraying Bile, Zombies On Ice?

It's not just that.  It borrows from so many other more successful series I feel like they're shoving it down my throat.  Anit-hero!  YOU WILL LOVE THIS!  Crooked cops all over!  YOU WILL LOVE THIS!   Set in a broken inner-city!  YOU WILL LOVE THIS!  Sympathetic drug addict!  YOU WILL LOVE....WAIT!  WHERE THE FARK ARE YOU GOING?

But it's most unforgivable sin is that it's boring as shiat.

I figure they'll have a plucky young female that wakes up infected with the virus, but instead of turning her in a zombie she has superpowers.  She then goes on a quest to destroy the corporation that created the virus, Parasol Corporation.

CONTRACTORS.  Contractors hire people like Snowden.  Then the NSA hires the contractors.

Yeah, I don't get it, either.  I actually have a friend who worked for the NSA for about 6 years.  His hiring process lasted over a year.  He's been gone for over 15 years and he still can't even hint at what he worked on.  If you ask him, he just says "NSA stuff."  If Clinton hadn't declassified the NSA's existence, he'd still be pretending he worked for the State Department.
