Grass is only grass, but a good joint is a smoke.

Common sense apparently prevails in Canada. If a cop delivered me to my house and the officer told my mom I had tried to sell grass clippings as pot to some stranger, I wouldn't have been able to sit down for a year.

In America the story ends with booking and a judge and thousands of dollars in fines.

After determining that the boys had been trying to sell "common grass," police cautioned them for "trafficking in a substance held out to be a narcotic."

Is that illegal?

Lieutenant Dave Spradling: I'm going to charge him with possession and being under the influence while on duty. You plead guilty I recommend 30 days in the brig with loss of rank and pay.

Kaffee: It was oregano, Dave. It was 10 dollars worth of oregano.

Lieutenant Dave Spradling: Yeah, but your client thought it was marijuana.

Kaffee: My client's a moron. That's not against the law.

Lieutenant Dave Spradling: Kaffee, I have people to answer to just like you do. I'm going to charge him.

Kaffee: With what? Possession of a condiment?

This... plus mandatory minimum sentences in California.

If you think our justice system is immune from police douchebaggery, you're wrong. This is just a good example; there are plenty of incidents of police brutality, and they think nothing of stopping the same person every few weeks for years, making obviously false accusations, etc.

Bullshiat.  In America, first they taze the kids, then SWAT teams go to their homes and execute any family dogs and/or grandparents present.   Then there's a booking and thousands of dollars in fines.

I'm betting the parents of those young boys are very happy they are not living in the U.S.
Sounds like something I could've done when I was ten years old. I see the oldest in this gang of misfits was 13. Not old enough to know better yet :)

Also my home town. I think it's one of the nicer spots in Ontario, although I agree with your political rant.

Ya, there sure isn't much good to say about Angus.  Actually, we refer to Alcona as Angus, by-the-sea.

Mnemonic device for categorizing wetland plants:

Sedges have edges, rushes are round, and grasses have joints when the cops aren't around.

This is a hybrid. This is a cross bluegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, featherbed bent, and northern California sinsemilla. The amazing stuff about this is that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt at night on this stuff.
