Sheesh... apparently no one looked very hard.  Always look in the couch, then look again... the under the couch... then reach down in the couch innards and probe around... then shake the couch and repeat.  And that is just for finding the remote.

What I find sad is that people have become so jaded, and have lost so much faith in humanity, that events like this are treated as newsworthy. While I do not wear rose-colored glasses, I am thoroughly convinced that most people, BY FAR, ARE this honest and caring. Joking aside, I think most people would try to find the owner in this case and not just keep the jewelry.

/no, not everyone would, but most.
