Good.

I mean, I'm sorry you're not rich enough to buy yourself more shiat you don't need but ... I think you'll be fine. During the 80s and 90s too many American's were duped into thinking they were upper class, and that was bad. Live within your means and you might find out that money wont buy you happiness.

Also, that kind of perspective also sheds light on the huge disparity between the wealthy and the rest of us. There is no reason that the top 1% should have most of the wealth. Unless of course anyone around here is nostalgic for the 1920s

Christians are not the ones hat in hand for handouts to everyone. They don't campaign in government handouts for all. They are not the ones who expanded welfare programs to nearly half of all households.

It used to be the government safety net was a last resort. Now it is a common part of half of American lives. I wonder why self esteem is lower.. hmm..

DNRTFA, but I'm one of them. Used to be that we had a little extra cash for nice dinners about once a week, and we could always recover from typical emergencies; broken appliances, etc. These days we're spending far less on our expenditures, but we don't go out for nice dinners anymore and it takes months to recoup the payment for a broken appliance or service call. I admit I haven't done much research into the root causes (except to look at expenses and incomes), but it's stymied me. I'm really not certain where the drop in available cash has come from. I'd tentatively float "inflation", but that seems too pat of an answer.

Clearly, if someone points out the factual data relating wealth concentration and systemic instability, they must be advocating for a complete socialist restructuring.

No, no, I dare say that a solution somewhere between various "pure" social systems is simply not possible.

Right?

It most certainly is the very best way to go through life.

As per the subject, I never understood why Americans all (or nearly all) seem to think of themselves as middle class, or that American politicians use the phrase "ordinary middle class Americans." It makes no sense.

This is what middle class might look like:

I actually went from lower middle class to poor way back after Bush was appointed and I was laid off. Out of work for almost a year before I got my current job. At a more than half of a pay cut. So how are those anti-union sentiments working out for you? I'm sure you have some well reasoned argument that unions raise the cost of labor beyond what big business wants to pay all while being grateful to your corporate masters for working 60-70 hours a week at two jobs with no health care.

If you won't fight for wages, benefits, and working conditions through collective bargaining, don't expect corporations to treat you like a human being worthy of respect. The sad part is that those who whine the most are not willing to do the dirty work of forcing corporations to provide decent wages, benefits, and respect through the use of force. The only way to achieve these results is through blood shed.

Libs are all like that.  Just goose stepping in their jackboots like a bunch of Nazis.

You know, it was called the National Socialist Party because Hitler came into power by being an atheist that wanted to redistribute money from wealthy Jews to lazy immigrant moochers.  It was in Revelations.

You can see these things coming if you read the Scriptures and *I* have read the Scriptures.  Scriptures are all I read.... just over and over again looking for the patterns.

well, unions are what caused the mass exodus of labor and production to non-union countries. so there's that.
