Christian extreme metal is an interesting concept to me. I'm a black metal musician myself but my song writing tends to steer away from the satanic stuff simply because it would seem dishonest since I'm an atheist. I think in one camp you would have those that would say metal has an ideological component that is antithetical to Christianity, especially some of the more extreme subgenres while another camp would say metal is a musical style, a way of playing instruments that is completely separate from lyrical content
