Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is a classic.  It doesn't hold up particularly well, but it is a fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.  I love it.

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is a pile of dog shiat.  Sorry.  It just is.  We are talking MIB2\Ghostbusters 2\Alien 3 bad.  It was pointless, way too tongue in cheek.

We don't need a third movie. Bill and Ted (the actors) are both too damn old now to reprise the roles anyway.   A well done re-make could be epic, however.  You can see the budget limitations when watching the first movie.  Give someone a budget and get some new blood in front of the camera and go.

I agree, #2 was shiat. I've heard people say they like it better than the first one, and I think those people are brain-damaged.

Keanu's talked about the plot of #3 and it could work; Bill & Ted are in their 40s and are freaking out because they still haven't written the song that is supposed to save the world. Hijinks ensue. Without Rufus though, I don't know how they go anywhere.

It's strange that an actor of his stature can't get this made in a heartbeat. You'd think overseas financiers would invest in anything he agreed to be in, just because he's a name.

I'm guessing that either the scripts really suck, or more likely there's some rights issues. The franchise is so dead, it seems like passing up easy money not to make another one if Reeves is agreeable to the idea.

Maybe it just costs too much to develop the hologram Carlin?

Bah no it isn't.  There are certainly SCENES that suck, particularly their stupid punishments in hell, but in general Bogus Journey is pretty enjoyable.  The scene where they beat death at a bunch of games is one of my favorites.

Those two movies almost represent a delineation from 80's to 90's in how they were made and the content within.

I was about to compare him to Kramer, and then I hung my head in shame as in a sideways manner I'm basically comparing Keanu Reeves to Larry David.

Sorry all for giving you a potential sad.

Bullshiat.  Bogus Journey is a great movie, and William Sadler easily has one of the most memorable Reaper's of all time(and I'm completely serious).  People get too hung up on following the original.  Gremlins 2 is a farking hilarious movie, but it is barely like the first one.  People don't see it that way and bash the shiat out of it, because they wanted Gremlins 1 again.

Conversely, Hangover 2 was a rehash of Hangover 1 and everyone complained.  I guess you can't win with people on Fark.

No way, Gremlins 2 is great. Bill & Ted 2 is not.

I don't have a problem with Bill & Ted 2 because it wasn't JUST a rehash of the first film.

I have a problem with the film because it simply is not a good film.  It is lazy, cheap, not funny, and the characters had already worn out their welcome.  It needed to be dark if they intended on taking them to Hell, but no, we get this -

It was embarrassing.  I give them credit for trying to come up with an original story, but the story sucked.

Gremlins 2 is as good as an 80's sequel could be, really.  It isn't horrible but it does not in any way equal the first film.

Bill & Ted 2 just shiats on the property.

"I believe Colonel Mustard did it, in the kitchen, with the candle stick."

"Sorry dude, you lose!  It was professor Plum!" *high five*

"I said Plum!"

"NO WAY!  YOU SAID MUSTARD!"

It isn't a GOOD a movie by any means, but its still pretty funny.  It didn't need to be dark or anything, and it was fun to see these two total idiots utterly nonplussed by ending up in HELL ("Yo devil dude!?" *said while desperately flashing the horns at a gigantic Satan to get his attention*).

At least I think so.

2013-09-16 02:06:38 PM
On IMDb they say the name of the sequel was changed from "Bill and Ted Go to Hell" to "Bogus Journey" because of "obvious marketing reasons". I remember the specific marketing reason being that the FCC would not allow them to air movie promos before 9PM on network television. Fun fact.

rotten tomatoes scores it in the 50's.  That puts it firmly in "mixed reviews".

With Gremlins 2 they just decides to go way over the top and just make fun of the first one. It was basically a parody, even to the point of telling Pheobe Cates to STFU when she started on a Christmas tragedy story. So if you saw the first one as a kid like I did, you thought it was a solid action/comedy/horror film and the sequel just sort of shiat all over it.

Gremlins 2 is Joe Dante saying fark you for forcing me to make a sequel, and, in turn, was a masterpiece of chaos.  Perfect stunt casting, perfect references, getting Chuck Jones out of retirement, Leonard Maltin, Hulk Hogan.. endless gags that just work.

Which isn't what I said.  Rotten Tomatoes is an aggregator that takes any and all critics from any time.  Maltin, Siskel, etc rated it higher than the original(read: "notable critics of the time").

Based on today, including reviews made today.  A number of their top critics(formerly called cream of the crop critics) were not considered as such 20 years ago, and reviews change over time(Ebert had his own list of revisited reviews.  As times change, taste changes)

I had fun watching Excellent Adventure

I happily re-watch them when they're on TV. and I'd be up for a movie with an aging Bill and ted. Particularly if it's directed by the RED guy.

Now the animated series? THAT was shiat.

Incidently Alien 3 is the most underrated film in the series and can easliy hang with the other 2, and I'll look sternly upon anyone who says otherwise.
