No, that's not creepy at all. If you'll excuse me, I'll be in my room. Under the bed. With all of my knives.

And a flamethrower.

People do that here too, but usually they have an AR-15 instead of a clown costume.

Are we allowed to shoot clowns? Pretty please?

The clown also knocked on a stranger's door and offered to paint their window sills despite having no equipment, the Northampton Herald & Post reported.

That is my nightmare: Some clown painting my window sills with no equipment.

That's where the brilliant comes in - an AR-15 will earn you a SWAT team in 10 minutes; a red rubber nose is as legal as a bunch of roses. No one can do Anything to stop him.

I think we all ought to get out there and clown our neighborhoods - live "V", but in clown white.

... except in Florida. And Texas...

Part of me wants to harshly judge people who are afraid of even intentionally creepy clowns.

Another part is irrationally terrified of some of the most harmless insects.

It stems from the basic "fear of the unknown" phobia, though with some variations with clowns.  Clowns are inherently in disguise.  The thing which makes them living cartoons and therefore makes there antics comedic instead of tragic makes some people wonder what they are hiding.

They also are not held to the social confines that the rest of the world functions in.  This, if nothing else, makes them a bit dickish.  For example the pranks, wise cracks, seltzer bottle, and squirting flowers.  You never know what to expect from them and the world seems to allow it.

To make a fear "real": say someone wants to kill or kidnap you.  Should a clown approach you, hit you with a giant wooden mallet, load you in a wheelbarrow and run away with you it would be hilarious.  It would also allow a person to take you without anyone knowing who did the deed or that you were in danger (at least immediately).

/I used to be a clown

So that's why there was a clown outside my house. That I shot...
Better call Saul! No seriously, I could really use a lawyer.
In my defense, the clown was wielding a knife

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

/Never understood why someone would want to be a clown.

I have a friend who cries at even a picture of a clown. Her terror is so thorough it's not even funny to tease her.

Then I have another friend who is terrified of balloons. Balloons. Even balloon animals. Because they might pop. That one is actually kind of fun to fark with.
