Well, he is a biochemist. I did a fruitless   search in his dissertation for "urine," but came up empty. Perhaps this is part of some grant-funded research? He  still has a research lab. He's right about early 'beetus symptoms and all that.  Wonder if he's been producing peer-reviewed literature in the meantime.

A Republican scientist who is active in politics? Is it a miracle? Does Art Robinson embrace the scientific advances of our time and understand and appreciate all that science has given to us? Is there finally a Republican candidate who is reasonable and isn't going to raise their hand when asked if they believe in creationism?

From Wikipedia (cleaned for Fark):
Robinson opposes abortion and supports gun rights, cutting taxes, increasing border security and building new power plants. He argues for balancing the federal budget, defunding earmarks and ending special-interest influence in Washington. He also supports restoring sound money and ending the Federal Reserve System. Robinson is against bailouts to Wall Street banks. He also supports a strong national defense, but with a more restrained foreign policy. Robinson is a signatory to A Scientific Dissent from Darwinism, a petition circulated by the Discovery Institute to promote intelligent design.

Nope, the man supports the Discovery Institute. He may be doing good science, but I wouldn't ever want him in a position of power to join the rest of the idiots who deny reality.

This guy is a crazy f*ck. And they MADE HIM THE HEAD OF THE PARTY in the state of Oregon.

Yeah, THAT will win over the blue areas... Eugene is already disgusted with him, wait until Portland gets wind of this guy.

He runs against Peter Defazio every other year.  Last time he had his son run against Defazio in the Democratic primary.  What's scary is that I see bumper stickers for him on every Republican-faithful's car.

First they came for the cigarettes, and I said nothing because I did not smoke them.  Then they came for the guns and I did not speak up because I don't own one.  Now, the government's trying to take away my urine?  Is there nobody left to defend my right to my own pee?

He threatened legal action against Defazio for using direct quotes of himself on pro-Defazio signs.  He's a bigger nutter than Peter North.

He's also, unsurprisingly, a global warming denier. Oh and this stuff:

"AIDS is conveniently serving as an excuse for all sorts of social engineering, especially in the public schools, that could not be sustained without a 'crisis.'"

Robinson was also criticized for his 1997 suggestion that nuclear waste should be diluted and "sprinkle[d] over the ocean," as well as his characterization of public school as a form of child abuse.

A nujob of the highest order. So of course they made him the head of Oregon GOP.

Of course. So, despite being educated enough to provide a well-research dissertation and obtain a PhD, he's  standard crazy anti-science Tea Party nutjob... who's the head of the GOP in Oregon. I should be surprised, but at this point, it's kind of expected that any scientist in the GOP is crazy.
