AdamK: does it matter? microsoft's creative advertising efforts have sucked for years

their best money spent is always flooding people with brain-dead commercials

Yup.  The best feature that apple products have over competitor products is that each and every one comes with a great commercial that makes you feel hip, savy and sexy because you own a device with such great advertising.

Microsoft on the other hand can't seem to brand themselves or their products at all.  Their ad copy falls flat and they basically kill great products by poorly communicating them to the masses.

The last time MS had a great product was when Windows 7 launched.

Great_Milenko: RoyBatty: technoblogical: RoyBatty: If you can't find the video, it seems to be here at the moment:  http://videobam.com/EGYPG

Next time, could you try linking to a LESS shiatTY SITE?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWxv2LuGTKY

Tell ya what, send me your email address, twitter account, and phone number, and I'll pass all my decisions by you in the future to make sure they pass muster.

The YouTube link in the article was sent a takedown notice and so the video was removed.

I found the video and uploaded it to a site that makes it trivial to upload videos and one that is more obscure than YouTube so that it would not be taken down as quickly.

Next time, I'll do as you suggest and upload it right back to YouTube so that will make its takedown easy and YouTube has already removed the video in question at least once...  It seems like a dumb site to upload it to, but it's worth it to get your approval.

Or you could have taken three seconds to type "fly on the wall microsoft" into the youtube search bar and linked to one of the other copies that are still up.

But I know, youtube sucks, just like ebay and facebook.

What a moron.

I actually found the video, just as you suggested dumbass.

I then downloaded it, and made it available on a site other than YouTube, not because YouTube (and ebay and facebook) suck, but because YouTube was almost certainly going to take down this video faster than vbam. It's called not putting all your ducks in one basket. And redundancy.

Then having linked to that, technoblogical and you start giving me shiat because whatever the fark I did wasn't according to your preferences.

Eat a bag of dicks.

Hey, remember three years ago when Microsoft had a funeral for the iPhone because Windows Phone 7 was so freakin' awesome? And then they did the Thriller dance?

The surface pro is great.
Windows 8 is great.
The original Xbone might have been great.

All of these products were killed by MS's crappy marketing and not due to any inherent flaws (with the exception of the XBone since we didn't actually get to see it before they changed it)

Nope.

Egoy3k: Windows 8 is great.

Still nope.

Egoy3k: The original Xbone might have been great.

And once again, nope.

I am impressed with some of the things he did, but no, I don't have to respect him.

Smackledorfer: Kyosuke: He can attempt to cleans his soul all he wants, but it will never be clean.

So you believe Jobs' soul is cleaner than Gates'?

I don't see any difference between the two in terms of running their businesses, tbh.  Every business that can pull it off does the same outsourcing for slave wages and deliberate monopolizing.  I don't pay a huge amount of attention to that, so if Jobs is a business ethics saint, feel free to give me the run-down.

Meanwhile, did Jobs do anything approaching the Gates Foundation?  What were his comparable charitable works for the betterment of society?

If only someone invented a way to search the Internet to find out these answers instead of falling victim to the "if I didn't hear about it, therefore it didn't happen" fallacy.
