This nationwide epidemic of police with no farking discipline will continue until we start charging them with crimes, convicting them, and locking them away. I hope he gets a fair trail but this is no accident; it's malpractice and murder.

Americans need to get a farking grip. When did any stranger knocking on your door become a burglar? Any man running towards you a threat? Any kid walking through your neighborhood an "asshole that always get away?"

Stupid stupid stupid...

Don't worry. By the time they've finished their reports he will be a Large Negro who made a "furtive movement" and attacked the officers.
No copse will be harmed in the production of this drama.

Suicide by cop?

More like "Running up to a cop? That's suicide!"

I know a few lucky cops with some paid vacations coming up.

And on the same CNN home page, there's the story of the NYPD shooting some bystanders after failing to tase or otherwise subdue a "crazy" guy running around in traffic.

That's a little strange that the taser didn't work. But yeah shooting someone who is unarmed is always murder.

I just imagine him pounding on the door and she opens it, "help i've been in a bad car ac-" * SLAM DOOR * *frantically runs to phone and dials 911 * "HELP MEEEEE"

I wonder if at any point she looks at her reaction to this and feels guilty/stupid now that the guy was shot to death. I doubt it, though.

At least, in this case it looks like the police dept has acknowledged that the officer over-reacted and he is facing charges.

There's a glimmer of hope!

FTA: Police have charged Officer Randall Kerrick with voluntary manslaughter -- a felony. He turned himself in Saturday afternoon and was being held early Sunday on a $50,000 bond.

Sounds like the kid was guilty of running towards police officers while black.

2013-09-15 09:18:16 AM
I want to know if the douchette had anything to say. This man, presumably bloodied and screaming he needs help, is now dead because she freaked out. It *is* possible to lock your door and still have a freaking conversation through it. For example "what do you need??? I am calling the police as we speak!" "Thank you ma'am, I have been in a car wreck and need immediate help, please ask them to send an ambulance!" Holy jeebus people! I do this any time I'm alone at home and someone knocks! (The conversation through the door part, not the call police because I'm a jittery, paranoid jerkhole part)

Yeah, this paranoia really needs to stop before something snaps.  Every stranger is an assailant, every male a rapist, every brown person a terrorist, every black kid a criminal, every white guy a racist, and every citizen a suspect.  We are all guilty even if we haven't committed any crime and it's only because we haven't done it yet.  Yet we trust government for everything while they deliver nothing.

And all the while the power structure keeps us stupid and docile and we (collectively) willingly accept it.  We have lost our minds as a society.

2013-09-15 09:18:59 AM
Why did he keep running after the cops after they tried tazing him and drew weapons?  Or did the cop just like quick draw the guy?

So glad i don't live in the US anymore. Homeowners are paranoid. Police are paranoid. And this was a white dude.

Officers responded to a "breaking and entering" 911 call at a home in Charlotte.

The homeowner told dispatchers that a man had been knocking on her door repeatedly.

WHO KNOCKS ON THE DOOR FOR A B & E? Knocking obviates the B part!

That's because a weapon can't do anything evil in the hands of an agent of the State.  It must be the officer and not the firearm.  Civilian weapons go off by themselves all the time though.  Has to be the firearm and not the owner,

RediixOne: Why did he keep running after the cops after they tried tazing him and drew weapons?  Or did the cop just like quick draw the guy?

I'm going to assume that tasers were never used at all in this incident and that the cops lied about using them.

2013-09-15 09:26:32 AM
Also I don't completely blame cops in general over society.  There was a day when cops were respected members of the community.  There was bad apples back then, but now it just shows up on YouTube.  Now they are heckled, video taped and constantly scruitinized.  I have a friend who is a cop who responded to a simple domestic disturbance call.  He went by himself and soon found himself surrounded by the neighborhood, and had to fight his way out of the neighborhood.  Ended up with a face lacerations and a broken nose.

I don't know how bad a city like Charollete is, but these people who say people need to stop being paranoid and "not everyone who knocks on your door is a burglar, not everyone running at you in a threat" clearly have not been to cities like Chicago, St. Louis, or Detroit where murder and assault cases are literally off the charts.

Society has forced a lot of police to come this way.  I am in no way saying what happened in this article is justified, and it is a very sad reality.  However, I do not blame police in certain areas for being edgy.

www.assaultweapon.info

And if a citizen owns one of these it's an assault weapon, but if a cop carries one it's a 'patrol rifle'. Plus the citizen usually only has a semi-auto variant, but cops can and often do have access to actual fully automatic weapons.

2013-09-15 09:28:00 AM
Article confirms two things everyone should know:

1) Running on the street while black is never a good idea
2) Never trust a cop

2013-09-15 09:28:45 AM
Guy was white. Yeah I was surprised too. That's probably why only one officer fired their weapon, and why he's being charged with manslaughter and is being held.

No, they only do that when the victim is black. Since the cops shot a white guy the cop is being charged with manslaughter.

Black man gets tased & shot dead. Cop gets paid leave. Then acquitted of all charges. Sound familiar?

This. I used to deliver newspapers. Sometimes as I was walking to their house, a customer would open their front door (leaving the storm door closed) to check for the paper. I'd smile, wave their paper from several yards away and

*SLAM*

the door in horror. I wonder how many panic alarms I've had pulled on me.

Guy was in a car accident where he had to climb out of his rear window to get out.  Even the cops admitted the accident was serious.  It is probable that the guy wasn't thinking clearly.

Regardless, the coont who panicked on a guy asking for help and then the cops overreacting were both WAY out of line.  This absolutely didn't have to happen.

It's all the meth, and the horrible way americans let corporations raise their children for them.

Paranoia, anxiety and depression are off the charts. Increasing poverty is leading to greater and greater mental health problems.

Schools are nothing but competitive ranking factories that only treat kids as economic beings.

Americans have forgotten how to teach genuine aspects of being a human to our offspring.
