DammitIForgotMyLogin: Tumbleweed Garden: I discovered the other day that William's great-grandfather, George VI was on a battleship involved in the Battle of Jutland.  I guess being a royal means feeling some obligation to measure up to ancestors and predecessors who were probably at the front of a line of knights in the middle ages.

One of his uncles flew Sea King helicopters in the Falklands war, including anti-submarine and search and rescue missions.

And Harry has seen combat in Afghanistan.  The tradition of military service for the royal family doesn't just get lip service---they do real, dangerous, and important jobs.

That was Prince Andrew, who at one point took off with a radar reflector tied to his helicopter to decoy an Exocet missile attack, along with SAR and some other fairly high-risk missions.  PM Thatcher wanted him sent to a desk during the war, but the Queen said he was to stay at his post.  Whatever else you can say about the Royals, Andrew did his job and then some.

Mock26: Prince Harry has probably worked harder in those 7 years than most privileged rich kids will in their entire lives.

Er, the same applies to Prince William, too.
