There were some cases last year in Louisiana. They involved people using Neti pots and tap water instead of distilled water. The tap water in those cases also contained Naegleria fowleri.

There should be specific regulations that mandate the complete removal of amoebas from drinking water systems. Heads should farking roll in that water district.

I like living up here in a Blue state where we have things like water regulations and standards that actually work.  It means I have clean drinking water that won't eat my brain if I accidentally get some up my nose.

Are you saying Mr. Bill is a brain-eating amoeba??

Huh. I never thought a story about a brain eating amoeba would fire up some political trolling, but here we are. Fascinating it must be to live one's whole life obsessed with such matters.

I had CNN on while I was vacuuming. I looked at the TV and saw the headline "DO NOT SNIFF BRAIN EATING AMOEBA."

Thanks for ruining my plans this weekend, CNN.

Those federal regs apply to all states. If the chlorine residuals were low as the article suggested, the Parish water system is in violation of state and federal regs. This is why it's a very bad idea to pay your water and waste water operators like Walmart employees.

Try a month ago.

This is not helping the efforts of TakeBack the Tap. But perhaps that's what the makers of bottled water want you to think.

Study wasn't paid for by the bottled water industry? We're just getting on board with the "don't use plastic water bottles, refill from the tap" and now this.
