RobertBruce: There are no signs Fring was ever a good guy.  WW was, and circumstance screwed his life.

I'm not sure that's true. Most good guys don't decide to cook and sell meth when they get cancer.

They showed him years before when he went to the cartel with the idea to start up a fast food chain and distribute drugs with his partner. He seemed pretty eager and idealistic. He may have had some involvement with Pinochet in Chile.

Then the cartel murdered his partner.

Yeah, and he had plenty of outs, including his former partners just giving him the money he needed. He wanted to be a kingpin. He poisoned a kid, convinced Jesse to gun down a potential competitor and watched a hot goth girl die. Advantage, Walt IMO.

But this Moderator may be played by different actors depending on the time of day.  That may not be fictional, but certainly it is sham.

Thing is, we don't know much about Gus' past.

I tend to think of Gus as what Walt ultimately became. We just don't know what Gus did to get there.

But let's not forget that Gus engaged in deep machinations involving the death of several people to merely kill off a rival in Mexico.

Also, he murdered one of his own men with a box cutter.

Oh, and poisoned probably a dozen or so people.

That's just what we've seen.

I think I would probably vote for George Hearst in Deadwood, though.

I guess "fictional" disqualifies him, now that I actually read the headline.

The problem is that to be the most evil a character can't be just "totes evilsies" because they get to a point where they become pitiable like Lucifer where their evil seems like a product of something outside of themselves. You need a character that doesn't strike you as inherently evil, one who you would think as respectable who then rejects their own good nature and turns evil

Well that rival murdered his partner in front of him. Take "partner" however you like.

But yeah, he did kill one of his own men to make a point. So maybe it's a tie between the two.

I would like to design musical hardware, too.  Analog, if it can be helped.  The field isn't clogged, but there isn't room for amateurs making fuzzboxes off 40 year old designs.

Unless I overlooked it, I haven't seen Joffrey mentioned yet.

That's because no one can understand WTF Pennywise is. At least I can't. Is he a clown, is he a spider, is he a turtle? Is he some being that can only be defeated if the girl lets all her friends run a  train on her? That was an effed up book.

An Alien or elemental being that feeds on terror and fear, personifying based on the fear of the victim.

The Nazis that threw the man in a wheelchair off the balcony in The Piano because he couldn't stand up to salute the officer.  I've never seen the horror of the Holocaust represented in such a personal way.  Even in Schindler's List it seemed a little abstract.

I'd actually argue against Joffrey because if he wasn't king he'd be no more evil than any other crazy cat skinning kid. Joffrey just sort of coasted into a position where he can really let his evil roam free but he lacks the ambition of a Baelish or Margery.

Vic Mackey.
James Moriarty
Voldemort
Fabius Bile
Harbinger

I would argue that Shane was more evil than Vic was.

Yup, Killing Lem, going family annihilator

I see what both of you are saying, but to me it goes to Vic as the guy who led Shane down that path in the first place. And don't forget Vic shooting Terry Crowley in the first episode.

Wow. No-one agreed with me about Clegg. Let me put it this way: the novel The Collector was found in more than one serial killer's library.

True, but Vic would have never killed his own family.

But then again, maybe the same could be said for Shane if he had never chosen to go down that path.

That right there is one of the many reasons why that was such a great show.
