Can't you see that this waitress is a ni--wrong person.

Can't you see that this waitress is a ni!?

She shoulda sung a real song. When they was slaves, they sang like birds.

2013-09-13 09:11:52 AM
The customer was just saying that HE was ni**ardly. "Grudging and petty in giving or spending." At least he knows he's a cheap bastard.

She did something against company policy, against her contract.  It's right there in the Red Lobster clause.

I can't imagine it will take the internet too long to figure out who the guest was, at which point this will become an official clusterfark.

My money's on the customer in question identifying himself to Red Lobster already...via a lawsuit.

His name is on the receipt.  Right below the X'd out credit card number.

I've heard tell that there is evidence that she wrote in "the n-word" herself, and posted it to her FB for attention.  Not that there are any attention whores on FB.

Well.  To tell a family secret, my grandmama was Dutch.

Don't know what he's going to sue about. There nothing on the receipt that gives away his financial information other than the last 4 digits of his credit card. If he's going to sue along the lines of "emotional distress" or something, then I want to be on that jury because that trial will be incredibly entertaining to watch.

That's what I meant. She should have blacked out the name, at least. And Drew should probably think a bit on whether it's a good idea to basically collude in spreading this person's real name around the internet, especially when it's simply unproven allegations against him.

Well, if he didn't write it, and she did, and then she AW'd on her FB, and now its all over everywhere that he's a farking racist... yeah.  I'd say he has a case.

Well, his name is out there already and there's no way to prove that he actually wrote it.  What he can do is prove that a Red Lobster employee unleashed an internet mob on him.

Maybe he wrote it, maybe he didn't.  But he sure as hell can lawyer up and get some money out of Red Lobster for it.

How many times do we have to go through this before people learn?

Don't take pictures of your customer's receipts and post them online. I don't care what they wrote on them or how offensive (or awesome in other cases, like Peyton Manning leaving a $2000 tip) it might be. You're going to get suspended or fired for doing this.

Do take the receipt to your manager and make sure that person is not served in your establishment from then on. If the manager refuses to take action, go up the chain of command.

You will not receive a financial windfall because somebody else was a total dick and wrote a racial epithet on the receipt.

It's OK, she has "suspension with pay is 'standard procedure'". So for a restaurant that's like, what, $2 an hour?

It's okay, he didn't get in trouble a couple of weeks ago when this story was green the last time.  Although she hadn't been fired yet, so I guess this qualifies as a follow-up.

Yup. Customer used derogatory language against employee. Customer is welcomed back. After all, bigots spend money.

I think they have to bump it up to the non-tipped minimum wage, since she can't get enough tips to make up the difference while she's on suspension, but it's still really low.

This. It sucks ass that her customer was a racist cheapass, but she really should have kept the receipt offline.

Redneck Lobster?

Doesn't sound appealing, frankly.

This. I suspect that failing to redact the customer's name is the actual policy violation here, and I've got to admit: that's not cool. Neither is what this person did, but you know what they say about two wrongs.

Came in to say she posted his name on the receipt online. Everyone figured out who he was real quick.

Certainly all of these "customer abuses waiter on receipt" stories have been legit so far.

2013-09-13 10:45:53 AM
I hope the person who wrote that gets a pineapple shoved up their anus...

However... she was wrong to post that online... she is opening a whole world of legal hurt for red lobster... and the note itself was not the restaurants fault.

RL is in a difficult position.
Take no action and the customers lawyers have more ammo. Take action and face boycotting.

There is one thing we have learned o er the years. These incidents are often fake. Two schools alone this year have had fake race incidents by students who felt strongly that racism was alive and so committed the racist acts themselves.

When liberals believe strongly enough, they will make their percieved slights reality themselves.

I saw the receipt and the handwriting for the signature and the "tip" and they are completely different handwriting styles.
